Sandy Bridge but not smooth flight: only @ 60 fps

Featured Replies

Ha thanks. Yeah, loads of stuttering. I've tried pretty much everything mentioned in these forums too. My fps are fine but I don't care so much about that as long as its a smooth sim, but its not smooth at all. I feel it is more than the previously mentioned micro stutters too. Like I said I can see the ground "shifting" like its trying to keep up. I find its not as bad when if I max out auto-gen. Going with sliders to the left makes performance worse for some reason. Most of the things I've tried so far either have no affect or make stutters worse.

oohhh , so you have followed Nick's Nvidia settings guide and Bojote's tweaks ? Try Bufferpools = 30000 a member told me about it and it increased my performance , just try it.

Yeah I've done both. Bojote's tweaker didn't do much. Under [bufferpools] it gave me a RejectThreshold value instead. I had 30000 going at one time but I'll try it again. Its becoming apparent that out of the dozens of combination's there is only one which will work the best. Finding it is the hard part. OR Its a hardware issue. This is still on my mind because I have a decent set-up and I can't shake the massive stutters

Reject the RejectThreshold , remove it or comment it. I don't have stutters (or maybe I don't or didn't notice) except a couple of jolts like lightning and I can live with that.

[bufferPools]PoolSize=30000//UsePools=0//RejectThreshold=131072 Play with those 3. Change usepools between 0 and 1, increase/decrease the poolsize. DO NOT change the rejectthreshold

Any value in leaving all three of them in the .cfg?

Don't think so. I was told to remove Rejecthreshold

The // stops them from being read. I've just left the 3 in and blocked 2 of them. Just try them all.

LOL I already have them commented and I am just using Poolsize = 30000 , it was the other member , I told him to remove or comment them . Anyway Thnx.

FSX doesn't use PhysX so that setting won't have any effect either way.

But set it to GPU. Just in case.

Just to be clear here, you DO NOT mix 'USE POOLs / POOLSIZE with Reject Threshold. Its one or the other not both.

I will try this but I don't know if this is really the cure against microstutters. I have very low latency memory and a SSD but still see microstutters in fullscreen. What I do know is that with my system windowed mode works best, as I found out yesterday. When I set FPS limited to 30 in fsx and fly in windowed mode I have absolutely no, zero, nada, niente microstutters. I'm almost with my noose on the monitor but have no microstutters whatsoever. I think this is due to the buffering in windowed mode. But on the otherhand, also with Vsync disabled I have supersmooth flights with my system. So please: Sandy Bridge owners (or similar setups) who experience microstutters: try windowed mode! This is how I test microstutters: Use a default boeing 737 on KSEA and use wingview so that you look at the terminal buildings when you take-off. When there are microstutters, you will see them when you pass the terminalbuildings with high speed.
That you have a smooth flight with FPS locked @ 30 is normal for 2 reasons:- If VSync is turned on and your FPS decents below the monitors refreshrate (60Hz for most of us), stutters start to occur and due to how Vsync works, it drops the rate at which it refreshes to 30 (if it can't match that, it will go to 15). So 30FPS is the next treshold and locking your setup to 30FPS gets everything in Sync again.- Windowed mode: If you fly in a windowed mode setup, even with a resolution that can match full screen, with VSync turned off, VSync is actualy still on because it uses your desktop VSync setting.
