What do you know...another frozen panel

Hi Axel. The reason i asked the question was, from your sceen shot you are using FSX traffic sliders. Why?
That's a good question. Probably I didn't get something right but I was thinking that UT has no influence on traffic like cars and boats (and birds?). Regards,Axel

Big reply to a bunch of things: <snipped a bit>Axel, An actual OOM message is definitely not the airplane - that's FSX itself running out of virtual address space. Take that 2.8GB of use and then add the video memory and any other system device overhead stuff to it and that's your true total - with a 1GB graphics card you've got a 200MB razor's edge there at 3.8GB. If it tries to go even 1 byte over that 200MB you're going to get the OOM error.
Ryan, Yepp, I've learned about this. However, I'm running Win7x64 having plenty of memory left for the "overhead stuff" you mentioned above. I'm even thinking on building in an elder generation of GPU (AMD Radeon HD4870 instead of 5870) having just half of the memory. The charming fact is that both are running with the same drivers. Has anybody with serious problems tried the patch mentioned by Thunderbolt44 in post# 107? I know ZK-SUH has installed and i believe he is going to try a flight. I can't get to my FSX rig untill the weekend and i am not having serious problems, but i am still going to install and see the results.
The 4 GB patch (largeaddressawareflag) you mentionend, is absolutelly unnecessary if you are on SP2 or acceleration pack.wink.pngIt's already done by Aces.

Could you expand on that please. For the lesser informed like me.

I think the following explanation from MS will make things clear, Rick.http://msdn.microsof...v=vs.85%29.aspx Simply spoken this patch tells FSX to use 4 GB of virtual address space under a 64 bit OS and 3 GB with an 32 bit OS and Aces did this already with Service Pack 2 or Acceleration Pack.So there's no need to patch fsx.exe once more unless there is somebody on SP1, I don't believe..

Another pannel freeze this evening: freeze at the touchdown; the plane goes automaticly to the rigth; a/p and a/t i had disconected at about 300 ft AGL In the IDENT page, after start in could and dark, there was below ENG RATING: D ?+ R 26K Thats not normal. Yeterday i had no entry left hand from 26K; and i only have had washed chassis in my panale; no freeze. OK; after this freeze today, the LCD-panals in my cockpit shows: in the VC: the situation of the touchdown; then freeze, but the FSX works; some knobs in the NGX also, but it comes no back in normal and not happens; the ligthdimming working in the panels in 2D-cockpit: an situation at final, some seconds before touchdown We will find the bug, or? Good nigthRegardsHans-Peter

Thanks Mats will remove it. Maybe that why my flight went pear shape Rick ?

I guess that meens back to the drawing board. Sure would be nice to hear from the guys over at PMDG as to what they have come up with, because from what i have been reading over the last almost 30 days, nobody can say "I'm Allright Jack".

Why not? I run Orbx scenery, with LOD 6.5, with very high scenery settings... I can almost command an OOM with that high of settings hehe. The only way to get around the OOM's for now is to drop my settings...
Ok Ryan, you like living on the edge! biggrin.png I'm just saying that the NGX is not especially memory demanding in my system compared to other complex addons like the MD-11. With those settings you can get an OOM in the NGX and pretty much any other plane
Hi Julian, you could well be right about my video card, although it doesn't perform too badly, even with the NGX. People are asking silly prices for used 8800GTX and there are no new ones around. Being a pensioner on a budget I've homed in on a Geforce GTX 550Ti with 1GB of memory by EVGA which I can get from Amazon for about £100 - i.e. affordable. Not cutting edge I know but the specs are much better than my 9600. For your interest the comparison is:- No. of cores - 9600GT = 64 550Ti = 192 GPU clock - 9600GT = 1500MHz 550Ti = 1800MHz Texture fill rate - 9600GT = 19.2 550Ti = 28.8 Memory bandwidth - 9600GT = 57.6 550Ti = 98.4 So, I think that card would be well worth the money. Thanks for your comments. Iain Smith
That's a good buy Iain, you should see a big improvement. All the best with it. Cheers

Exactly. I do wonder how many have a set paging file, and having CTD's. When I was on app to ktpa, I was mouse clicking dials on the MCP, setting up the FMC for the APP, and when dialing in the app freq on nav1, kaboom. Now that is the first time I have had a CTD after 100+ hours flying the NGX. The dialouge box that came up to tell me to phone Bill, if I moved it, it massed produced more dialouge boxes behind it. If that makes sense.I had a look in event viewer, and it was NGX.DLL crash. Did changing the paging file from windows managed to set @ 3172 cause this ? And,who else has set there paging file to user managed and are having CTD's ? The plot thickens.

My memory is managed by WINDOWS - automatikly. The NGX-code must be check. The NGX shoud only handle the memory, thats real in the PC, and prevent an overshooting this available memory. My FSX.exe tells alway after shutdown, that it can write at adress " xyz...", wiht pannel freeze and also without.Regards Hans-Peter

Hi guys, I think my problem fixed itself with the re-installation from scratch.I flew 2 other flights last night with all my usual add-ons which are: ASEREX 2 Overdrive (textures only)EFBRadar Contact 4TrackIR5 To my surprise, everything worked as expected. No panel freeze and no CTD. I can start liking this plane again!
