Advantages /disadvantages between window and full screen mode
Always fullscreen, same performance as windowed. Other apps like EFB running on a network laptop.

How can clouds be such a fps killer ?
Bojote's shader 3.0 mod is said to be more performant for ATI cards in clouds, so isn't it possible to tweak the corresponding cloud shader files that they are not or less antialised for both Nvidia and ATI?

+1 Exactly the same here.

Night Cloud issue --- Ground texture issue
Got the same also on a fresh install of FSX. It looks like FSX is running in 16 bit mode at night, but I think it's rather monitor related. Did you already test with other contrast and gamma values?

Aerosoft Deutschland X: North Released!
There are plenty posts of disappointed customers in german flightsim forums, so Aerosoft had to act.

FSX rain effect
Not only rain effect, the snow effect is also totally crap. The obvious question is, why did they change this in FSX? FS9 rain and snow effects are way better.

GEX North America Versions 1.099 & 2.0
Me too So GEX time is over for me. I' am waiting for FTX Global now. BTW: I don't like GEX textures as I like them in FS9. Sent from my "the device"

2400 or 2600 MHz RAM for Ivy?
Capt Lalle replied to Capt Lalle's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI ordered the Asus Maximus V Gene and Corsair H100i watercooler. First I will look at the temps when overclocking without delidding, but I have this in mind if temps are not adequate with a stable 24/7 overclocking. As for the Ram, they are already along the way, but thank you for your estimation. I will see how they go.

2400 or 2600 MHz RAM for Ivy?
Capt Lalle replied to Capt Lalle's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcOk thank you, I've ordered 2600 MHz Ram now and also hope to get a good CPU batch for Ivy overclocking.

Worth the upgrade? (570 to 670)
I can see a small difference only in outside view on the aircraft, therefore I've 8xSQ activated, but perhaps this is up to my monitor because of a dot pitch of 0.30. With a smaller dot pich one may see no difference between these modes. I will test IQ with a 24'' TFT instead of the 27''.

2400 or 2600 MHz RAM for Ivy?
Hi, does it make a noticeable difference between 2400 MHz or 2600 MHz RAM for FSX on an oced Ivy platform? I'm thinking of buying GSkill Trident X 8 GB 2600 or GSkill Trident X 16 GB 2400 RAM. This will be a FSX only platform, therefore it's not really necessary to take 16 GB of RAM I think. Thanks in advance

Worth the upgrade? (570 to 670)
After some testing the problem is rather SGSS than AA on my system, even with GTX680. Heavy clouds are still a killer with SGSS enabled, with 8xS instead of 8x SQ and 2xSGSS there's nearly any difference here.

Airbus X Extended Released
Don't install hotfix 1.02b at the moment, because ailerons don't work with 1.02b and the ac is unflyable. Edit: Just a new file for fixing released http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/61759-unable-to-turn/

Worth the upgrade? (570 to 670)
Hello Dario, AA settings are 8xSQ with 2x SGSS. My thought was, the GTX680 would perform even better in heavy weather than my old gpu, especially with SGSS activated, but heavy clouds are still a framekiller so far.

Worth the upgrade? (570 to 670)
Upgraded from a GTX480 to GTX680, as it will be one piece of my new rig I will build in January, but I was really disapointed. With same AA I get 1-2 fps more in heavy clouds and pushing AA higher, I don't see much difference with GTX680 though. Perhaps my old i7-920 @ 4,2 GHz is the bottleneck here.

Anybody have experience with Aerosoft Venice?
+1 Very old scenery (adapted from FS2004) and not worth the money, regarding nowadays technique for FSX.

BBS Airbus v0.6 is out!
I don't like these kind of business models, paying for alpha or pre-beta versions to fund someones development costs and maybe waiting for the final product I've already paid for, over years. It's no problem waiting for a patch or service pack because no software is without faults at release, but in my opinion, the BBS bus is far from release stage at the moment.

Not another OPUS Thread!
First of all, sorry that such a silly customer doesn't know, that 0 Metar belongs to a weather cell within 5 to 10 miles. With no word I claimed, that there are absolutely no Metar's in entire Europe, if I get the 0 Metar message. I wondered why only some miles around the aircraft clouds are depicted and if you reach the former cloudless areas, suddenly clouds appear and that this phenomenon has something to do with the 0 Metar report, but as I recognized now , that was really stupid. In no way my post was offence intended, but to realize this, one have to read and understand. BTW: Yes, you are absolutely right, I really do not know anything, maybe otherwise I have developed such a software myself. What a piece of luck for our world that there are some intelligent people. Concerning aloft temp and winds: I did several flights today and on every flight I got some extreme windshifts which let the aircraft get into overspeed range or nearly stall, with everything of this smoothing stuff ticked, but this is due to the fact that I'm a silly pilot, it has nothing to do with Opus, just to make things clear. Amen

Not another OPUS Thread!
Then I don't know, why there were so many areas with zero metar on my flight from ENGM to LSZH. I intentionally left the metar-window open during flight, because of the sparse quantity of clouds. I have set up GRIB data and LWE as written in the pdf, but I will try a complete reinstall later.
- Oh that Europe...

Not another OPUS Thread!
Sorry to say but I'm not really feeling confident with Opus. Today during my flight from ENGM same windspeed and direction at FL380 enroute with only 6 knots. In descend, winddirection suddenly changes complete (90°)in a second for some minutes, then at FL240 absolutely no wind for several minutes! Also metardata is very rare in Europe. There are so many areas with zero Metar and therefore only some clouds appear, mainly around the aircraft where areas in greater distance are nearly cloudless (became more cloudy as the aircraft reaches this areas, despite cloud draw distance is set to 100 miles). Maybe it's more for visual flights at low altitudes at the moment, but as an airliner pilot I'm not really satisfied. I will install AS2012 new Beta 2 and do the same flight to compare now.

Texture corruption? REX, FSX or OPUS fault?
In this case you may recompile your shaders first.

Have any of you tried this? (SweetFX)
Thanks I will give it a try.
