Aerosoft Deutschland X: North Released!

Featured Replies

The first part of Aerosoft Deutschland X (DEX) has been released! The official screen shots look very promising, at least much more so than the ones used in the FTX comparison. It will be interesting to compare how this product enhances Germany compared to GEX and the upcoming FTX Global.

If it doesn't do Germany 10 times better than GEX and/or FTX Global I'd be surprised since DEX does so much more than just replace textures.

I had been somewhat disappointed by the recent comparison between DEX and FTX Global (which has now been linked in the original post). However, I am guessing that the FTX Global images were enhanced, thus exaggerating the difference between the two products in favor of FTX.

I spend 100% of my time flying in the US and Canada, with 95% of that time in the Pacific Northwest. After seeing these "official" screens of Deutschland X,

I might have to spend a little time flying abroad.

The screenshots actually do look good, but Northern Germany just isn't my typical area of flying. If they'd add Austria to that product; I'd be in for sure. But so I'll just wait, maybe I'll get the Southern Part, which also has parts of the Alps, and mountain flying is just more fun than flying over a pretty much flat area for me.

Hmmm... AS "unreleased" DEX this morning...

http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/64581-deutschland-x/

Any clues to why?

The current statement from Mathijs is a bit ....vague.

Quote: "Gents, we pulled DEX from the shop, more comments to follow later today."

It almost sounds like they have some kind of liability issue.... (perhaps OrbX protest because DEX might mess with their future plans for a dedicated region?).

Hm, for a brief moment I thought DEX was a new and improved version of VFR Germany... but it is indeed similar to an Orbx region. However, it is compatible with VFR Germany... Does that mean everything that DEX offers will be there when you also have VFR Germany...? That would mean it would be a 'perfect' combination of an Orbx-like region with photoreal textures all over...? I will ask for this on the Aerosoft forum.

LOL That I can't imagine.

Well... OrbX did announce they're planning on doing Germany in 2014, so DEX might

"steal" customers from them, since DEX appears to be a quite similar product.

I don't believe that this would be an argument to take product from the market only after hours after it's been released, and thus there's no way the development costs are already brought back via the sales. There must be some other reason.

A little addendum to what I posted previously:

I just searched the Aerosoft forum for an explanation, and this is what Mathijs Kok has to say about it:

Well, it's not 100% clear at this moment, but clearly we messed up. We knew about the weaker areas and they had been worked on in the last week but customer reactions did not reflect that. A good portion of the people who bought it are just not happy and as a result we removd the product immediately from the shop. Currently our management is talking to the external development team to see what their reaction is and then we'll decide how to move forwards with this project. With the weekend and carnival on Monday (rather big in the region of Germany where our HQ is) it might be Tuesday before we got all the information we need. But of course we'll make sure that the customers who are not happy will be taken care off. In the mean time, we apologize for the issue. It's not what Aerosoft should be.

That is a mess, but Mathijs seem to have done the only thing he could have. Good to see a company with some pride in what they do!

I'm quite interested what 's wrong? :)

Current system: ASUS PRIME Z690-P D4, Intel 12900k, 32GB RAM @ 3600mhz, Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity, M2 SSD, Oculus Quest 2.

Well, it's not up to OrbX standards for sure. Some areas look ok, some look very generic. I made a test flight from Hannover, which is a payware airport and not included in this product.

I already saw on preview screenshot that DEX is not above par, and this video prooves that, sadly. :(

There are plenty posts of disappointed customers in german flightsim forums, so Aerosoft had to act.

If it was easy to replicate FTX regions, other Devs would have been able to do it a long time ago. I'll wait for FTX Global.
