February 8, 201313 yr Is there any add on that makes rain look good? I have REX but I think it doesn't change rain. It looks like a line coming down from the sky. Büke Yolaçan
February 8, 201313 yr I have never heard of anything at all. Crappy isn't it. It ain't a question. Dan George (woodhick)Check out Greenbrier Aero Club, the VA for and about the GA pilot.
February 8, 201313 yr There's a fix for DX10 users (see DX10 forum) and I recall a recent post here where the member was able to take that same fix and make it work for DX9. February 8, 201313 yr I clamor for a rain drop effect on glass while in VC. 2D has it in many planes.
February 8, 201313 yr I clamor for a rain drop effect on glass effect while in VC. There are some addons that have this effect, and I have to say I don't really like it. Probably the addon that gets it best is the Lotus L-39, a great little jet aircraft btw. Also the MilViz/Nemeth AW-109 has this feature, and the PMDG Jetstream, if I'm not mistaken. But IMHO it looks bad, and with wipers engaged it actually looks somewhat stupid to me. Flo Florian
February 8, 201313 yr Oh, did not know that. Guess no effect is better than a bad or stupid one then, eh.
February 8, 201313 yr Commercial Member No, quite opposite from my point of view, better some effect than nothing. I can't engage wipers just because it's raining, I need an windshield effect to see any use of them. February 8, 201313 yr could the railworks rain effect be modified for fsx? I wish, those effects are beautiful. http://youtu.be/nX5StDRP_EM
February 9, 201313 yr Not only rain effect, the snow effect is also totally crap. The obvious question is, why did they change this in FSX? FS9 rain and snow effects are way better. Regards, Mats Weinberger
February 9, 201313 yr Not only rain effect, the snow effect is also totally crap. The obvious question is, why did they change this in FSX? FS9 rain and snow effects are way better. I don't know, but I guess that the FSX sim engine was sufficiently different from the FS9 engine that rain and snow effects were incompatible between the two and the ACES team made effects that would suffice for release. They may have intended to improve the effects with a service pack and were disbanded before a patch could be made. That's just me guessing. February 9, 201313 yr I still remember flying into KDEN in FS9 a few years ago, with the Dreamfleet 727, the wipers going full blast with a downpour of rain. The effect on the virtual cockpit was nice looking. FSX is a step back.
February 9, 201313 yr I wish, those effects are beautiful. http://youtu.be/nX5StDRP_EM Those effects are amazing! George T
February 9, 201313 yr I think the turbine duke has it too in FSX (could be the piston duke not 100%..go fly in rain in both, you'll find out It does have a performance hit though. not massive..but its there. As for the rain effects in trainsim2012...man! They are gawjus! Imagin that in FSX... Regards Luke M
