February 9, 201313 yr Is there any add on that makes rain look good? I have REX but I think it doesn't change rain. It looks like a line coming down from the sky. Check out... http://forum.avsim.net/index.php?/topic/398286-Rain40-fix,-only-for-DX10?
February 9, 201313 yr Well you actually can add the rain effect of FS9 to work on all FSX default ONLY aircraft. I have done it and it is working. New addon airplanes however need to have it coded as part of the model. I will see if I can find the link as I did it about year ago. edit: This is all I could find Another interesting post by Jim Goldman: I have some WONDERFUL NEWS.. and yes spread the information out to others PLEASE..... the gray out windows in VC of FS9 GMAX created aircraft can be fixed and you will actually get the moving rain back into the VC in FSX.. YES YOU READ it right..... "Well here it goes (you will need to copy all the VCRAIN****.BMP with in the TEXTURE folder in FS9 to FSX.... (remember to back-up the FSX version of the textures)." the links http://www.microsoft...eintheRain.aspx http://www.flight1so...x_vcrainfix.exe
February 9, 201313 yr I've hardcoded rain effects into two models so far. The FSX model's effects were a bit more extensive with moving rain textures, but in the end, I find it was too much effort for too little gain. In the end, I've settled on a static rain texture and working wipers to simulate proper windscreen wiping. it does the job and isn't too hard to do. - Edit: Befor anyone asks: No, it can't be applied to other models unless one has access to the source files. 7950X3D + 7900 XT + 64 GB + Linux | 4800H + RTX2060 + 32 GB + Linux My add-ons from my FS9/FSX days
March 24, 201313 yr is it possible to remove snow and rain completely, Even when using weather engines like opus or Hifi? - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
March 24, 201313 yr You could remove the rain and snow texture files.Just tried this and 'removed' RainA.bmp, RainB.bmp, ... But then I lost all sky, sun and cloud textures. And it gets deeply grey. Strange, isn't it. - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
