Review German top monthly magazin "Flight"

Featured Replies

I think the point about waiting til the SP is ready is the most sensible thing I have read on here all week. No point rushing or you will all be demanding SP2. just let the team get on with it.(apologies to those still non functional)

TabsI think you don't read exactly my first post. It's not my private opinion. So, thats the problem when people are writing without English mothertongue. But I don't thin you can ignore what an ohter language review wrote about the NGX.Marcel
I have been flying the NGX exclusively since it came out.. and I have had zero issues with it, and i do every flight from cold and dark all the way to shutdown. So I could care less what "another language" says about the NGX.

Why do we need the review. I reviewed NGX myself and it passed with flying colours.

Ok, that is a comment that is absolutely not necessary! What´s about that it is in another language? You should check your view of the world mate!

Puting my little attempt at humour asside, i 100% agree with you. This simulation was produced for 'all' to enjoy no matter where you are from.

Marcel11 said. Why not? Why should we take notice from all reviews. When your native language is english its quiet normal and sufficient to read those in english.

DJoseph said. When you are content with the product reviews are`nt that interesting ,especially when they are written in foreign languages.Keep in mind for, english -speaking people the german language is not so easy to read or write. Generally spoken for german folks ( and dutch ) the english language is not that complicated.

After reading this thread I had to take a look. First time I heard of this publication - sorry - top magazine, must have overlooked it somehow at the newsstand . In any case, I am surprised that the general tone was so negative. Depends on the point of view of course, personally I don't have many problems with the NGX (one panel freeze while messing with a hold aside, yes, Hotfix 3 installed). The reviewers/previewers standpoint was solely from the 2D-panel point of view (because that seems to be the only way of flying in a realistic manner - switching something with the mouse while still keeping the flight instruments in sight. VC with TrackIR got dismissed because some people get sick or get headaches). The second negative point: some SIDs that were not displayed and flown correctly as well as a problem with holding pattern entries (detailed description of the errors in the article, they might just post the text to a support ticket). The second article was all about OOMs and autopilot mess-ups, which again I have never experienced myself. The reviewer knows an NG-engineer and they put the plane through a ground test which it passed, so that was mentioned. My impression: this review was a little too focused on the negative points. Well at least they didn't rate it and said to be waiting for the service pack. I do not want to come across as a fan-boy, it is just that my experience with the NGX is a totally different one than described in those articles. Nevertheless, they had those issues and I am curious as to what caused them. As some of those have cropped up on the forum (I faintly remember something about holding pattern entries) maybe an official issues or possible issues under investigation list might be helpful. What I am missing here however is the mention of the depth of the simulation because that - again for me personally - is what makes the PMDG product feel so special - because you have "living" systems interconnected and dependent on each other instead of more limited pre-programmed "switch off = light on"-type systems. I don't know the depth the competition systems-wise, but I feel that this feature of the NGX should be given more space. In any case, I can hardly wait for all the announced NG simulation comparisons (<-- ironic). And finally: I am not saying that the reviews should be all positive and I can understand some people are not very pleased because they constantly have CTDs etc.

You totally misunderstood me.

Precisely. I am happy with my NGX, and don't care if someone gives it a bad review.. the NGX is the best thing that's happened to flight sim.

Then I am sorry, but it sounded a little racist.
