You know guys, this really has to cool down or maybe Tom might consider the Xplane forums to be more trouble than they worth. On second thoughts I don't think Tom will close it down but some action will be inevitable if this keeps up. Maybe an option is just ignore posts that are obviously only looking for faults instead of answers. Regards Pete

Whahahahahahaha.......guys please, please.I have been moderating various forums (fora if you prefer) for many years. What happens here , I hardly can take serious. When Morten supported my previous post on this topic.I thought ,fair enough , nevertheless I was not waiting for it. As administrator I want to cool down things and bring an end to this silly quarreling , sorry to say its nothing more. When/if Goran had said the same as Morten .................things might have turned into the right direction.Well...ehhhhh........"might" I said. Probably Bernt and others would have agreed too and we might have a pint or two together. I am having a pint now , the happy feeling of having a pint with the friends , I really do not experience that. Let me put a question to you all: "What else do you expect from me , apart from closing down this kind of fuzz"This time I am not closing it right away. As an administrator/moderator have only three choices/options: Closing every topic wich ends up in a quarrel.Give a ban to everyone who is making me angry.Or even close down the whole X-Plane forum. Ohh yes there is a fourth: Trying to restore fruitfull cooperation and friensdhip , my favorite option. PeteRussel wrote:

Pete is right there , nevertehless keep in mind Tom and I are exactly the same age , and thats far to old to manage a "kindergarten". I have no personal friends nor enemies at this X-Plane forum.I like FSX as much as I like X-Plane ( for different reasons and thats just the beauty of it!!!!!)I am not a real pilot and my knowledge about flying is minimal.I am a painter , texture-specialist working on various platforms at high level.I am a moderator who exactly knows what he wants. Peace my friends , please....... Leen

Hey, now that's a great idea! Especially as I'm presently sitting in rather hot Dubai!Guess IRL that could be a real relaxing and interesting evening :(

Hey Bernt I'm just a bit south from you at present, in sunny Seychelles. Can still get a pint of draught here in centre of town at the "Pirates Arms" Pete

I don't really understand the whole FSX vs XP... from a simple business stand point the more SIM's out there the more competition will exist. The more competition exists the more innovations will be made and that ultimately is a win for the consumer, which is us all... Regardless if you like FS or XP or both, its better for development and competition to win over and keep customers if more than one platform to exist. A perfect example of this is the healthy add on market we see today. For years all we had was MSFS and for those of us who have been here since the SubLogic days and have owned and flown every MSFS since FS95 can attest to when it was the only game in town it was horrible and ran many people off. I don't think I ever completed a flight over one hour in duration until FS2000 was released (and patched). Now plenty of that was as much a Windows problem as it was a MSFS problem, but the point was this, by todays standards it was crap.... yeah I said it. MS had no real competition so there was little urge to fix/patch it. I have spent many hours/days/weeks/months here on this very website waiting, hoping and praying for a patch to whatever sim was out. Hoping it would be the holy grail and solve our problems, usually it created more headaches than it fixed.... but that's typical Microsoft... And oh, BTW back in those days you were more likely to win the lottery twice in a row than to have anyone from MS take part in any discussion in any form about any flight sim past present or future. Austin has always been right there talking to his customers about XP. I think IIRC it wasn't until FS2002 that we saw any official online presence from the MS FS development team. Even when Tom held his Avsim Conventions you were lucky to get someone from MS to show and usually it was some marketing guy or gal. So my point, competition is good, its healthy AND its the only way this hobby will survive.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

I could not agree more !!!! As long as we keep things friendly and polite. Lets talk sim now , guys. Leen
