September 5, 201114 yr Hi Cap's can anyone tell me if it's currently possible to import a flight plan into the FMC? And if not will it be possible in the future. September 5, 201114 yr There are a few ways to do this : The free way to do it :Go here : http://www.vataware.comDown the left hand colum click on ''Top routes''Enter your dep and arr airport ICAO's and click go.I used EGKK to EGCCNext comes all the info u want : Scroll down to the bottom, and you'll see a NAV log, with each waypoint : Armed with this info you can manually input each waypoint ( in the IDENT colum) in the FMC/CDU/FMS...whatever you want to call it.So here the 1st waypoint will be LAM and the last TNT. Another way to do it is to purchase something like Flight Sim Commander ( other flight planners are availible)With FSC you can first copy the Route ( from the 1st pic above) , click new flight plan, and a box will apear.Enter EGKK then paste the route you copied,( Ctrl + V) followed by your destination airport, in this case EGCC.Click ok and it will generate the route for you. When you save it you have the option to save the plan in lots of formats ( LVLD,PMDG,MSFS ect).Once its saved you just run the sim and select your plan from your saved plans in FS. ofcourse, this is just 1 way of doin it.There MANY other ways. September 5, 201114 yr You could also try simroutes.com. Never used it, but i heard people say it's good. Cristi Neagu
September 5, 201114 yr You could also try simroutes.com. Never used it, but i heard people say it's good. For america.Useless for europe though. Regards Luke M
September 5, 201114 yr For america.Useless for europe though. The original question was how to import flight plans into the NGX, not how to find routes. To find a route, use vRoute. Works very well every time and it's free. If you're willing to pay for the premium version, it can export flight plans directly into PMDG format. If not, just copy the route vRoute gives you, or any other flight planner for that matter, and head over to simroutes.com, and on the top click generate routes. You input your data, click on generate and on the next page select "PMDG" in the drop-down and download your flight plan. Frankly, i prefer to input the route into the FMC, and save it for later use. September 5, 201114 yr FSBuild will also export plans in correct PMDG format and place them in the proper folder so all you have to do is type the route name into the CO ROUTE line of the FMC. Mark. Mark CYYZ
September 5, 201114 yr Vroute is also a good alternative to FSBuild as it wil generate (real) routes and you can export the flight plan into proper folder (payware version). I have FSBuild and you can do a lot with it (like importing weather from ASE etc) however. More often than not I use Vroute or Vataware (both free) to give me the route and then I use charts (download online or sign up to Navigraph) to plan my departure and arrival. It doesn't take long to enter the route into the FMC (see the included PMDG tutorial for a good example). If you do it once you can always save the route to make it quicker the next time, but tbh it takes no time at all for short flights. Unfortunately there are lots of options, it just depends on which route you take/feel at home with! NB: Check out some of Trisager's (Tom) excellent tutorials on flight planning in the NGX forum. He shows you how to use some of these programs to plan and enter a route. Ed Haslam

September 5, 201114 yr ....................... Slightly contradictive, wouldnt you say? ........some people!.. Well, since you said simroutes doesn't work for Europe, I decided to show what works for Europe, as well as the rest of the world. I find that a complete answer is always better that half a one, don't you agree? Especially when people don't read the question correctly and give a completely "besides-the-point" answer. But, then again, that's just me. Conversation over as far as i'm concerned. Cristi Neagu
September 5, 201114 yr OK, here is the 100% free way for anywhere in the world. 1) Get your flightplan (use free vroute as an example).2) Go to simroutes.com3) Click "Generate Route"4) Copy & paste your route from #1, select the sid/star & click "generate route"5) Now on the next page where it shows the map of your route you need to click the "Download Flightplan" button, but first select PMDG format from the dropdown list.6) You will now have a flght plan downloaded in .rte format and you need to just copy it over to the PMDG flightplans folder so it can be imported directly into the FMC. He wants to know how to put a FP in the FMC.I showed him where to get a route - How to use that route - and how to inject it into the FMC. I showed how to do it for free I showed how to do it with with a payware flight planner...whats your problem?
