Best world scenery?

Featured Replies

Hello. I am looking for the best scenry that covers the whole world, kind of like Orbx, but for the whole world, and not FS Global 2010. I saw the FScene ultimate pack, but is it worth it? Please send answers.

'fraid nothing compares with OrbX.... sad.png

Well, what about Europe and the whole entire US? Maybee even the whole entire world!

The problem is that you won't get the level of detail of Orbx on a global scale. It also depends if you are looking for region specific texture replacements or scenery enhancements over the default. There are several products out there that cover these areas, including our own.

Why would u want something that vast? As others have stated, you won't find it at an Orbx level of detail. Stay regional and just add as u move about

I already tried the UTX from a freind, and it didn't work. grass textures were all over the taxiways at all of my payware airport scenerys. (Imagine sim KIAD, Aerosoft FRA And LHR). I do have REX though. would that count as one?

best bet would be GEX north america and Gex Europe.....i know it isn't the whole world. oh don't forget vector land class for new zealand....outstanding!!

Packard Bell i11....64gb ram....1tb SSD....Nvidia 99000 4tb......400watt corsair......Windows ME 64.

Isn't FS Global 2010 50 Pounds?

Depends on what kind of flying you want to do, if you are whizzing around the world at 30,000 feet in jet, you're in with a shot, and your best bet is probably this: http://www.fsaltitude.com/ Not cheap, but it will give you the right look from up high for the entire planet if you buy it all. If you want something cheaper that approximates stuff, then things like UTX will do the job, although such products are not actually completely accurate as far as all object placement goes, more of a 'psuedo look' that improves on the default scenery and tidies up roads, rivers and railroads whilst sorting out the landclasses a bit, which is in fact what Orbx does too, although to a considerably prettier degree than most other stuff out there, but Orbx is not going to give you anywhere near world coverage, and anything else out there is unlikely to match it in the appearance stakes. You could give tile proxy a whirl, but like FS altitude, it's only going to look okay from up high.It is worth noting however that some of these products use the FSX layers capability, notably FS Altitude, and that does help if you have other terrain add-ons you want to use in combination with it. The answer is no; no such scenery bundle exists. For North America Megascenery has not just a bundle, but an external drive of photoreal if that is of interest to you. It is well priced seing they throw in an external drive with it (it's huge in size). And they sell custom regions if you're interested as well. For me the best is Orbx over UTX and GEX in North America. At least that stops flying out of the Pacific Northwest into the FSX desert. In Europe I use UTX and GEX again, and if you want there is the photoreal scenery from Horizon for the UK, but watch those airport plateaus. Freeware photoreal, and regional sceneries exist abound if you go through the AVSIM, FLIGHTSIM libraries and of course endless pay and freeware airports. For Australia we are spoiled, Orbx has done the entire country and many wonderful airports. Underneath the world (but not Hades, the fire-resistant mesh hasn't been made yet) I have FSGenesis, especially its great mesh for North America and Europe, and Holgermesh beneath Australia. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, so all this can slow down loading times, much will slow your fps so moving sliders back is necessary. But in return you can fly in a much more realistic world and benefit from the technology of FSX even in its unfinished and clunky format.

KInd regards,

All you had to do was move your payware airports above UTX in the scenery manager.
