Well i tried to fix my UT2 but i don't have my SDKs in my fsx folder where the image tool is. Aparantly it is on disc 1 of my FSX Delux install disc but it won't let me into the SDK folder to get the Image tool exe. Any ideas?

Rick,You need to install the SDK outright, the whole shaboodle. Then you can have access to image tool.

Not being that knowledgable when it comes to software, will this affect my present FSX installation etc, etc.

Not at all Rick, it is stand alone, as you can see by the screen shot. Notice I do not use proggyx86 for that install either. Just to be sure.

I am on a separate drive too but in W7 i can't access the exe for the SDK on disc 1 so i am going to try pulling the SDK folder on my XP rig and copy over.I just get a green bar on the top address window in W7 and it never opens the folder.

I just installed it from the dvd, so not sure why it won't give you access ? There is a service pack for the SDK too if you want to grab it. FSinsider.com

Thanks alot, that is GREAT news!! As an expert Ryan, any comments whether it's possible to get rid of the shimmering effect when it comes to the lit buttons like the recall panel, the gear down lights etc? And also for the content of the DU when they are powered on?

I now have my UT2 mipmapped. Thanks everyone for your help. Julian, the only way i could get to the SDK set up was to copy the installer from the CD1 on my XP rig that i am networked with and then copy over to my W7 FSX rig. In the interim, Richard emailed me the exe for the ImageTool. Bottom line is, i've got my graphics all sorted and i have my SDKs + updates. So thanks a million to you both for your help. Now i have to go learn about SDKs. All the best,

Tonight I really got sick of all shimmering still left on stuff like the DUs, the green gear down and locked indication lamps etc so I started trying all different settings I could think of both in NVidia Inspector and inside FSX and I just found out that the setting that gives me the best result which goes against what has been recommended both by PMDG and Nick Needham is to set the AF setting in NVidia Inspector to 'Application Controlled' and then set the filtering option inside FSX to 'Anisotropic'. Not sure if this means my NVidia driver installation is corrupt in some way since that to me indicates that when I let the driver on a hardware level handle the AF I get the shimmering instruments in FSX but when I instead let FSX handle the effect it gets much better. I belive I read somewhere that what I just found could mean just that...that your drivers are not installed correctly. Maybe I will do some more testing and try to perform a clean install of the drivers and see if it does any good. Just thought I would post my findings so far since it might help someone else get rid of at least most of the shimmering effect on the instruments.

Hey Richard. I'm still fiddling too. I thought i had found a great way to get rid of just about all of the shimmers. I saw a setting in a thread which i tried, but it hit my frames too hard for my liking.I set my AA in Inspector to AA_MODE_METHOD_SUPERVCAA_64X_4v12. The results were pretty impressive until i landed at Aerosoft Amsterdam x. Thats when i got the slide show. It seemed to be ok with NGX because as you know, i Mipmapped NGX, but as soon as i got near addon scenery my FPS dropped more than normal.Regards,
