September 28, 201114 yr Hi all,Hope I'm not duplicating a post here. I did a search for my issue but am having problems searching for something that I can't really title. If this topic exists already, a link would be awesome. But if you have any advice to share on how to fix my problem. That would even be better. For a while now I've been randomly having a problem with my ailerons in FSX. I could fly a bunch of flights and be fine but on occasions this would happen. My plane would violently crank itself to one side in a very jerky motion. I try to fight it, but it does no good. it's like I loose control of my aileron axis for a few moments. I still have control over my rudder, elevator and throttle. Like I said, it's very random. Sometimes it will happen just once for a few seconds. And sometimes it can happen several times during the flight. I don't think it's a hardware issue because I calibrate and inspected my axis and they all seem fine. I am using a Saitek yoke with the SPAD driver. I am also using the latest version of FSUIPC that I purchased. So it is a registered version. I have also enabled the option for reducing controller spikes or something like that. I also checked to make sure that I don't have any conflicts in my control assignments and my axis. Things that I have running when I fly are: FSX FSCommander 9 ActiveSky Evolution EZDok FSHost I've noticed it happening with some payware aircraft that I own, so I don't think it's a problem with the aircraft. Some of my aircraft that I've notice this happen are my Carenado C210, PMDG B737NGX and my Wilco Airbus Series 1. I mentioned FSHost because I'm not sure if it is a coincidence. But I'm not sure if it is just happening when I am flying online. But maybe it did happen offline too can't be sure. My computer specs are as follows: Intel i7-950 12GB DDR3 ATI 5970 I am not getting any lag or anything when this happens. My frame rate is good. Another little tip, is that it never happens when I have autopilot engaged. Any ideas on why my plane is freaking out some times and rolling uncontrollably? I have a friend that this happens to from time to time when he's online too. Thanks in advance. Steven Bond ----------------------------- Steven Bond
September 28, 201114 yr Reading ActiveSky Evolution may point at the rough simulation of the wake turbulences there. Can you try to land right after a more or less big AI plane has landed? If you see the effect, that guy just gave you some wake. You can adjust the effect though, the ASE options have a slider for it.
September 28, 201114 yr Author Hi CoolP,I'm doubtful that it has to do with wake turbulence. I don't have any AI turned on, and the people I fly with are not near me. The last time it happened, there were a few of us at the airport. But I was the first one to take off. And we were all in Cessna's.The feel of this problem is like I were to take my yoke and slam it to one side and continue to slam it back and forth. Almost like road rage and i was smashing my car into the side of another car as we raced down a highway. And it's weird because it can happen even if I am not turning. The last time i was lifting off the runway and got up around 200 feet and then it started doing the glitch. My axis on my joystick can't fight it. it's almost like someone has taken control of my yoke. And as far as I know, my yoke is still in top shape. It's very weird. Thanks for the feedback. =) ----------------------------- Steven Bond
September 28, 201114 yr Sounds like a control (hardware) issue. If you go into the calibration page of Windows->control panel, does the axis jump all over the place? Just try to re-calibrate it. I guess I should have actually read your post. Can you sit in the calibration page and wait a few minutes to see if the axises spike? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
September 28, 201114 yr Author yep, I have no spikes. It might flicker a tiny bit if it's not perfectly centered. But i have a small null zone set in FSX that should clear that up. other than that, my controller seems to be doing fine. To me it doesn't seem like a hardware problem. If it was my yoke, I would think that when I am in autopilot, I would see some abnormalities. But once autopilot is engaged, I never see an issue. Thanks, ----------------------------- Steven Bond

September 28, 201114 yr Author Not sure I understand. You mean I save a flight and then resume my flight from a later time? I usually start my flight from the "Free Flight" page. I usually load a flightplan that I create in FSCommander 9. But some times I just jump in a plane and fly with no set destination in mind. The only thing that is saved I guess would be my default flight. I have my my own startup flight. But it never gets used because I always go through Free Flight. As for autopilot. I've never experienced this with autopilot on. it's always when I am flying a plane hands-on. Seems to be flawless with autopilot. And this doesn't happen every flight. Sometimes it could happen once in a flight. then another time it can happen 3-4 times in one flight and do this in the next few flights that I go on. Thanks, ----------------------------- Steven Bond
September 28, 201114 yr Hi!! do you have any hardware to control your aircraft??? Ignacio aka Tanocapo
September 28, 201114 yr Since you are using FSUIPC, there might be a problem with the axis assignment method you are using. If you are using the first method, switch to the second. If you are using the second, switch to the first method. NOTE: To switch the assignment method for a particular axis, you must first de-assign all assignments for that axis. Only then will the radio-button be enabled! From the FSUIPC Axis Assignments tab: More info: See the FSUIPC User Guide (p.45, April 11, 21011 version) Cheers, - jahman.
September 29, 201114 yr Author Thanks jahman. I'll give that a shot tonight. I usually don't use FSUIPC for assigning axis and buttons. I usually just use the assignments area in the FSX options. I have a registered version of FSUIPC so I should be able to do this. I should start using FSUIPC to it's full potential. I bought it a long time ago to be able to use LUA files for my PMDG JS41. Thanks again for the info. I hope this solves it. It's very annoying having your plane doing rolls when on final. My friends online call me a showoff, but I tell them that it's doing it on it's own...lol Cheers, ----------------------------- Steven Bond
September 29, 201114 yr Some years back, I had the same problem using Saitek hardware and FS9. I fought the problem for months and emailed back and forth with Saitek numerous times with no resolution. I would be flying along at altitude, and all of a sudden, the elevator or aeilerons would just go nuts. I removed and reloaded the hardware and software several times to see if that would correct the problem but no fix. Finally, I gave up and gave my Saitek joystick and throttle (X45 system) away and purchased CH products yoke and rudder pedals. Problem solved. I've never had a recurrence of the problem. Thank you. January 16, 201214 yr I have a similar problem, but a bit different. I'm running FSX, SP2 but not Acceleration. This has been a stable platform for over a year now. I'm using a registed FSUIPC 4.751 and a CH Eclipse Yoke.I'm flying a default Lear 45, drop the auto pilot on approach and have virtually NO aileron control. So I'm thinking my yoke has gone bad. Disassembled the yoke (out of warranty of course) and ordered a potentiometer for the X-axis from CH Products. I then went downstairs and retreived a repaired CH Yoke LE that I had on hand and tried that. Same thing. I then loaded X-Plane and it works fine. Back to FSX and into FSUIPC where I can see the potentiometer values in the Axis Assignment tab showing full range for "joystick #1, X-axis" when I turn the yoke handle. If I go to the Joystick Calibration tab, the values are stuck around 400 and do NOT respond to handle movement. So I'm thinking there is something going on between FSUIPC and FSX. I also took the USB yoke connection out of a powered USB hub and plugged directly into a computer port on the mobo with the same results. I tried another default aircraft - the 172 - and it still doesn't move the ailerons in FSX.So, why can't FSX now, after a couple of years of flying, see my yoke aileron movement? Elevators work OK so it's not a USB connection problem. X-Plane 9 and 10 both work OK with both yokes, so it's something in FSUIPC or in FSX. Any suggestions??? The only thing I've changed in my system is the video card which shouldn't have any effect. i7-4790K o/c @ 4.8 GHz, Corsair H-110 liquid cooler, 32 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, MSI Maximus VII Hero mobo Samsung Pro 512 GB SSD Corsair GFX Hydro GTX-1080 8 GB, (2) 4TB hybrid HDs Win 10 (1607), X-Plane 10.51r2 and X-Plane 11.01b1
