October 5, 201114 yr Hello, I am looking for a decent fighter aircraft for FSX. I have seen both the F-20 Tigershark and F-14 for FSX from IRIS, and I would like to know which one I should get, or should I get them both? Thank-you for any suggestions. Thanks, Kevin L
October 5, 201114 yr I have their F-16D and their A-10 and can recommend both of them very highly. I'll have to double-check but I think I also have the F-14 as well but if so, I haven't flown it in a long, long time. Alexander Alonso
October 5, 201114 yr I've got most of IRIS' stuff (picked most of it up when they had that mad sale a few months ago), and I would certainly recommend them, especially their T-6A Texan II turboprop military trainer, which is a minor classic in my opinion, but of the two you mention, I prefer their F-20 to their F-14, since the F-20 is a simple, lightweight fighter that is more fun to throw about, and the simpler systems on it means it is more of a 'jump in and go' type of affair than the more complex F-14. Having said that they are both good and both sport a lot of realistic system detail, but the F-20 is my personal preference. Keep in mind you need acceleration for the F-20 to work, or you won't get the HUD displaying properly. As alternatives, you might want to give the Bear Studios (Flight 1) Chengdu J-10 Vigorous Dragon a look if you want a funky Mach-2 capable fighter jet with a difference. Also worth considering is Wilco's Harrier, which is of course very versatile with its VTOL capability and near-supersonic speed. Al Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

October 5, 201114 yr Commercial Member If you ultimately choose the F-14, I actually prefer the freeware Dino Cattaneo version (http://indiafoxtecho.blogspot.com/search/label/F-14D), as it is acceptable and free. That then frees up some cash to go ahead and buy the F-20 from IRIS! :D I also agree on the T-6 Texan II being a great aircraft, but would suggest purchasing the PC-9. It is nearly identical to the T-6 Texan II, with it being based on the PC-9 in real life. But as David Brice learned a lot from the development of the T-6 Texan II that he subsequently put into the PC-9, it is a more refined model with enhanced features (that may have made it into future patches of the T-6 Texan II, of that I am not sure) if I recall my conversations with him correctly.Edit: If you look at the IRIS forum, you'll note the T-6 and PC-9 are due to be made freeware, which is insane as they are still amazing aircraft! http://aussiex.org/forum/index.php?/topic/8170-pc-9-patch/ Edited October 6, 201114 yr by tutmeister Owner, Fulcrum Simulator Controls. fulcrumsim.com facebook.com/fulcrumsimulatorcontrols instagram.com/fulcrumsimulatorcontrols twitter.com/Fulcrum_SC
October 6, 201114 yr Author Ok, Thanks to all of you for your replies! I don't have accelleration, so I might get the F-14. Thanks, Kevin L
October 6, 201114 yr Author Keep in mind you need acceleration for the F-20 to work, or you won't get the HUD displaying properly. Are you sure that acceleration is required? I saw on the product page that FSX with SP2 was required. Thanks for your suggestions about the Bear Studios Chengdu J-10. It looks very good Thanks again for your replies. Thanks, Kevin L

It looks very good Thanks again for your replies. I dunno if the specs have changed, it did actually install and work with SP2, but some displays refused to work in it for me until I installed Acceleration, that I do know. October 7, 201114 yr Author Ah, yes. I also heard that Acceleration is required, because there is a gauge missing that is used for Acceleration's FA-18 HUD. Thanks for all of your replies. Thanks, Kevin L
