Another great place to learn how to do a VOR non precision approach is lesson 4 of the AOA MD-11 training. It will show a GIPOL based approach towards the KLO VOR with proper explanation of using the FMC as well as understanding the navigational principle of flying this kind of approach. But one should indeed understand some of the basic's of flight navigation otherwise it will be "pushing buttons and entering data" without really understanding the meaning of it. Understanding the basic behind different kind of navigation basics is very rewarding but as mentioned by many before will only come from studying the theory. Have fun any way you like to fly. It is a sim and if you feel fine just operating the fmc without really understanding what is behind it than that is fine too. Just wanted to mention that navigation is no rocket science. It takes some studying but nothing an adult with normal iq couldn't grasp. Fred Koch

Thanks so much Paul!I was looking for something like that. Now I'm going to go try that out Oh and how do I find the name of a VOR?
This guy will ask all the questions, but wont look for the lessons. :D No offence mate! You find the names of the VORs in your departure/arrival/enroute charts. Dont do a guesswork. If you don't know how to read the charts, then start with that. There is no way to learn any kind of navigation without understanding them. PS Autoland is not fun and as someone stated before - there are very few airports in the world where it can be done officially.Good luck!

Even simpler, just open the map in FSX. It will show you the VORs with their names and frequencies known to FSX. If they dont show up, change the options along the top of the map until VORs are enabled. I really, really recommend that you at least look at the web site with the navigation lessons that I gave you. http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/index.htm
I studied it all when u gave it to me at the first place. But now Im half way through the trainers they have on the download section
