October 7, 201114 yr can you confirm that this happens both with WideViewAspect=True and WideViewAspect=False ? -Brendan I could see no difference. EDIT: Thanks you very much for stating the obvious. I distinctly remember adding that edit to my fsx.cfg about a month ago, but apparently I didn't save the change... Just checked, it said "False" so I changed it, saved, reopened to make sure it stuck, and now my HGS looks great, along with a much better view of the VC as well. I feel like a jackass now... October 7, 201114 yr OK, here's an illustration of what we're talking about. Keep in mind that my situation is worsened by the surround setup, so it is likely a lot worse than the actual problem under discussion. This is purely for illustrative purposes for those unfamiliar with the issue. #1 How we think it's supposed to look;http://dl.dropbox.co...41/HGS_font.jpg #2 How mine looks;http://sehlah.com/fsx/myhgs.jpg(this was taken in 5996x1080 & the center cropped to 1920x1080 to show what's on my center display)As you can see, it requires ramming our virtual noses into the combiner to see anything more than your heading... NOTE: Mine is exaggerated due to the reduced vertical FOV in 3-monitor surround setups. I have WideViewAspect=True in my fsx.cfg, but it didn't help at all. In a single monitor setup, it still appears to be too big, but I can see all of the HGS display while also having a corner of the efis panel visible & the top/bottom of the combiner lens barely still on-screen. I doubt that the first pic is actually how it's supposed to look. Real pilots of the NG can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's too small. I believe it's supposed to look like it does in the illustrations on the HGS manual PDF (think of an imaginary border all round the edges proportional to the 0.5" to 1" margins on a printed document or on a printed picture). So that's how I set mine up. It's difficult if you don't have EZCA, but if you do (I mean the OP), and I think you do, then it's easy. If OP likes it, I'll show how I did it, or I'll send him my EZCA profile. It is at 0.98 zoom with WideViewAspect=True. Chidiebere Anyahara
October 8, 201114 yr Author Hi Guys, Thanks for your input, too busy tonight to read through the posts since my last post but will do tomorrow. Here's a few shots of what I'm seeing The first image is zoomed to 0.78x which is roughly where I like to have it as feel its most realisticAs you can can see the HGS information is cropped The 2nd I have had to lean completely forward to be able to see it all Will post final image in new post as over file size limit Chris IbbotsonFinally the only way I can see it all without leaning completely forward I have to zoom away out to 0.4x which is completely unrealistic and gives the silly fisheye appearance Chris Ibbotson AMD Ryzen 7 7800x3D / MSI AMD MPG x670E Carbon Motherboard / Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming OC 32GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card / Corsair DOMINATOR Titanium RGB Grey 64GB 6000MHz AMD EXPO DDR5 / NZXT C1200 Gold ATX 3.1 - Fully Modular Low-Noise PC Gaming Power Supply - 1200 Watts - 80 PLUS Gold / 48” UltraGear™ UHD 4K OLED Gaming Monitor / 40" Philips 4K LED Monitor / Honeycomb Alpha Yoke / Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant / WinWing Orion Rudder Pedals c/w dampener / WinWing Ursa Minor Airline Joystick / WinWing Airbus MCDU
October 9, 201114 yr Author Hi guys, I can confirm that changing the WideViewAspect= to True helped immensely, I can now position myself correctly and have a zoom value up 1.0 and still see the entire HGS. October 9, 201114 yr I believe the second picture posted by Chris above is most "true to life". Maybe a real NG flyer can confirm that. Most simmers zoom back in the VC so they can view numerous instruments and gauges without changing views, but PMDG attempts to place things based on realistic views. If you can see the entire HGS correctly, then you shouldn't be able to see any of your other gauges. You will have to look down and turn your head as real pilots do. Curt Branch
October 10, 201114 yr Hi guys, I can confirm that changing the WideViewAspect= to True helped immensely, I can now position myself correctly and have a zoom value up 1.0 and still see the entire HGS. Glad it worked for you as well. I could have sworn that edit was already in my cfg... Kenneth Weir My Saitek yoke mod i7 2600k @ 4.7 8GB Gskill CAS7 2x GTX580 SLI Surround + GT520 Accessory Win7x64
