SIDS and STARS for australia

Featured Replies

Hi You already have sid/stars for the major airports that come with the NGX. I am from Australia also so am aware. Smaller airports may not have sid/star so you may need to perform a rnav, or vordme arrival. Usually when you take off you just go DIRECT to the waypoint. Use the airservices charts, they are excellent, and if you want to do a flight, say example from MEL-SYD use http://rfinder.asalink.net/free/ and it will give you your route, so you enter that into the FMC..

Hope so Emile. Will try tomorrow all going well.
Do let us know, Julian ! For flights into NZQN I've tended to use my trusty PMDG B1900D but would really like to be able to operate the PMDG NGX via the RNP arrivals.

Cheers,
Emile Bax.

Furthermore, how did you know it was the dosel 7 departure?Oh and flyerboy,I have the virgin aust flight plans they use this is also good to put into the FMC!Apparently each company has there own routes

I think you will find the dosel 7 departure is included in SID RWYS NORTH EAST (JET) (RNAV). Bruceb

Those heading to Queenstown NZ, might find this useful http://www.vatnz.net/cms/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=63&func=select&id=5 Havn't flown there in sim for ages... not sure if the current navigraph has the newest version of the rnav approaches, but I know the file there from vatnz has a version from 2009. Thanks Trent, I'll check it out. As far as Navigraph goes :I have the latest IAPs for NZQN including the RNAV (RNP) charts. At the moment I haven't got the NGX installed so can't look it up there. However I did search the Level-D 763 NZQN.xml file for AIRAC cycle 1110 for several of the RNAV (RNP) waypoints and I can't find any of them. So I guess the answer is no. I seem to have read somewhere (could have been the VATNZ forum) that the source for Navigraph data only provides those that are most "in demand" (that's probably why nearly half the total number of airports for which files ARE provided, are US ones and a number of NZ regional airports are not included at all !). Sorry, I think we're heading a bit OT here blush.png

Bruce, literally straight after I posted that question I found the answer!! Thanks! :-)Once I've got used to using all the flight data i think I'll go looking for a replacement ATC package! Radar contact perhaps!Tell me has anyone flown the NGX using flight sim passengers?? Does this assist with the loading of the pax and inputting them into the FMC?As far as finding defining weights and things is concerned?I just use this program as it really helps me judge my flying?!

There are also some RNAV approaches which are copyrighted for certain companies, Naverus for example, or in some cases, specific airlines etc. In the case of the latter, I believe Navigraph cannot publish them. I think Queenstown's RNAV's are owned by Naverus and only used by Qantas and Air New Zealand (Pacific Blue/Virgin Australia don't hold copyright access) You will notice the exact co-ordinates don't appear on the publicly available charts, only the names of the waypoints and their general relitave-to-terrain locations. Just something I heard on the grapevine when flying a certain 737 fixed-based sim for Worldflight by someone who seemed to know a thing or 2. Regards, Trent H

That sounds plausible, Trent. I know that Air New Zealand used Naverus as the provider of the RNP RNAVs so it wouldn't surprise me. I just hope that Austscene contains something useful in this regard.

I've seen JetStar flying the QN Approach RNV05Z too, it looks great from the ground, 270' turn descending over the lake, between mountains, touchdown.

Austscene files are SID and STAR and Approaches for Australia/New Zealand selectable in the FMC. Yes Navigraph (and PMDG NGX) come with SID's and STARs on it's own, but these are in a slightly different selection format . I'm not certain if it includes Queenstown NZQN. The file from vatnz has a 2009 queenstown RNAV/RNP approach file included which was created independantly using the chart available for Queenstown and some testing.

thanks what does it change though, does it over lay the Navigraph or make some other change, with the Navigraph being updated would it not overwrite the format changes
