Featured Replies

Hey all!!Just letting you know I'm slowly working my way through toms tutorial on setting the 737 up for a flight, seems to be going well!I'm now up to the part where it is telling me to enter SIDS and STARS for my flight YMML to YSSY. I have the route but no SIDS and STARsDoes anyone know where I can update the FMC or CDU to have melb and yssy SIDS and stars?I do all my flying in aust and am wondering if Im lucky enough to have aust SIDS and stars in my flight computer?Any way I can??

Your NGX comes with an AIRACs file that is installed with SIDs and STARS that was dated 2 cycles ago. It gets updated every month and if you want to keep it current you need a subscription to Navigraph. http://www.navdata.at/

You need enroute information for the FMC from Navigraph, and for SID/STAR and Approaches you need this austscene.com. Install Navigraph first then install the other over top of it. Navipgrah data for Oz is terrible and that why you need Austscene SID/STAR and App data, its all very very accurate, updated and tested and its freeware!

Thanks for the heads up Ron, did not know that was available, I see they have NZ as well.

+1 smile.pngJust downloaded it - keen to see if it includes the RNP approaches for Queenstown. Can't find out at the moment as I'm waiting for SP1 before re-installing my NGX.

Cheers,

The AIRAC file that came with NGX should already have the SIDs and STARs needed for your flight. I don't believe there have been any changes to the YMML and YSSY procedures since the release of NGX so you'll be wasting your money updating to the latest cycle. If your YMML - YSSY route is DOSEL Y59 RIVET then you should be flying DOSEL7 departure and RIVET9 arrival. Once you have programmed in the route press DEP ARR on the CDU to select your SID / STAR. Credits yes you need to buy credits first, therefore an account is required to download Navigraph updates. I tend to only update every two months or so, credits last twice as long then and the data does not usually change that often. If you mean FSX ATC you can't, they are dumb smile.png for VATSIM and such, have it in your flight plan and they'll see that. If and this is very normal, you can't know the STAR because thats 6 hours later than your pre takeoff FMC setup, then when I first contact approach ATC I'll say something like "NZ123 at BLAH BLAH for Someplace anticipating a STARNAME approach" and unless there's some good reason otherwise that's what they'll give you.

You can also sift through the SIDS/STARS at Airservices Australia to help builder a clearer picture when programming your CDU if you don't want to buy the Aerodrome and Procedure charts from Navigraph. I recommend Navigraph for the Enroute charts though. http://www.airservic...ocChartsTOC.htm Brett
yep, thats the REAL source of airac charts and I highly recommend you actually print a copy esp if you fly online. if you don't want to purchase the airacs from navigraph, you can find out what is the best SID/STAR for your arrivals/destinations and then manually add them in. the only issue though is the airac also has speed and altitude restrictions in accordance with the actual charts.

The free stuff from Air Services Australia is all you really need for flying in Oz. Bruceb
