November 25, 201114 yr Is there any reasonably simple addon (payware or free) that will give me airport digrams that I can easily access in FSX?I run DX10P and so lose the progressive taxi (though I open a new window and use F12 if needed) but I'd actually rather have an accurate airport chart and follow the ATC directions to/from the gate.Having searched a bit I found references to AivlaSoft's EFB but that seems overkill for what I need and it also seems that you need a separate system and at least 2 monitors to run it (I run a single monitor system). DBS Airport GPS apparently gives you a diagram with a route straight to the gate but apparently it's not the route that ATC give you and it doesn't label the taxiways from what I can see.Any suggestions?
November 25, 201114 yr For Europe you can register for free at Eurocontrol here http://ead-website.e...gin.do#register to have access at almost the entire European AIP, so included all the procedure and airport charts. Then, once downloaded the PDF carts, you can use this http://code.google.c...ki/PDFKneeboard to read them inside an FSX window.
November 25, 201114 yr Author Ok that's a possibility.Ideally I'd like something that I don't have to download loads of charts for and also, if possible, is based on what FSX has defined for airport layouts rather than the real thing as there may be differences.Maybe I'm asking for a moon on a stick!
November 25, 201114 yr Did you try Aivlasoft's EFB?? (30 day demo.)It can run on a single system and with a single monitor. But - like FS Commander - it runs separate from FSX, and so running on a single system would require you to run FSX in a window.
November 25, 201114 yr Author No I haven't tried it but I'm not keen on having to run FSX in a window, if I can avoid it.
November 25, 201114 yr Author Having said that I have a decent Android phone, so if there's something for that out there (having just looked at the FSKneeboard app for iOS)...
November 25, 201114 yr you can use airportchart which is freeware and available here. It is very useful. The problem is that it does not work with windows 7. My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/

The problem is that it does not work with windows 7.It works with my Win7 x64 as well as my Xp Pro x32. You need to be "persistent" when creating the database.I think that I first hit "Update" and then click the build database button. You should, of course, also run the program"as administrator"...all FSX-related programs for that matter. I also have had UAC disabled from day one and permissions setfor my total control in all FSX-related folders. Paul

PaulHi PaulYour 700 th post is a winner!!I had tried countless times to make airport chart work, to no avail, even though I had already followed your advice but this time, I don't know why, I succeeded in building the database and the gauge now works on my windows 7 computer!!Thank you My gallery: http://s1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/yankeegolf/
November 25, 201114 yr If you're talking about the apchart gauge, the problem with that is that it builds its database by reading scenery.cfg from top down, and adds the first instance of an ICAO it finds. So addon airports with mods to the default runway/taxi/apron network aren't captured.scott s..
November 25, 201114 yr Maybe I'm asking for a moon on a stick! No you're not, you just don't want to pay for it! :( (AivlaSoft EFB, does a lot more than just Airport TWY charts, BTW...)Cheers,- jahman.
November 26, 201114 yr Author I did say payware or freeware on my original post, and I also mentioned I thought the EFB was overkill for what I wanted...

So addon airports with mods to the default runway/taxi/apron network aren't captured.scott s..Simple solution as I see it.I keep a "reversed" copy of my scenery.cfg file for use when I need to rebuild the apcharts database.Simply load your current scenery.cfg file into notepad or the text editor of your choice, go down to the"Title=Addon Scenery" entry...usually Area 115, and highlight the entries from that point down to the end. Then select "cut" and then "paste" to past the "bottom" of the file back to the top.No need to do any renumbering. Just save this as, say, "Flipped Scenery.cfg".When you need to update the database replace the current scenery.cfg file with this one (renamed to scenery.cfg of course)and then update the apcharts database. Once done, restore your original scenery.cfg dile.I have multiple scenery.cfg files for flying in various parts of the world, USA, Hawaii, Oz, Europe and Defaultr Only and ALL.When I add new scenery areas I make sure that the ALL_scenery.cfg file gets updated and then the "Flipped scenery.cfg" file. Then I am ready to update the database for apcharts as well as Plan-G. paul
