December 15, 201114 yr Is this a true statement or could some of the new advances work their way down?
December 15, 201114 yr If history is any indication (I've been using X-Plane since v8) then there will be NO further updates to v9
December 15, 201114 yr Commercial Member AFAIK, 9.70 was considered the final version in the V9 run. After that, Austin and the Laminar team dedicated all their time to XP10.
December 15, 201114 yr Once a new version hits the shelves, the previous product is considered obsolete and at end of life. When XP11 is near out, XP10 will be near complete as far as development goes. This is good only for those that want to be sure what they are buying. Right now, things are skeptical about where XP is going. We only know that things will be added and changed over time, but not as to how much or what features. Aaron
December 15, 201114 yr Hang on, I'd really love those clouds in XP8, get them to do THAT before porting to 9. Then a 64 bit version for 7 thankyou very much Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
December 15, 201114 yr Hang on, I'd really love those clouds in XP8, get them to do THAT before porting to 9. Then a 64 bit version for 7 thankyou very much Well, its a fair enough question. Some vendors to provide support/updates for products after they have released the new version but I can see that LR doesn't have the resources to do it and thats fair enough as well.
December 15, 201114 yr While XPv9.7 might be the "end-of-the-line" in terms of development cycle it has loads to offer-especially if one's system may not be up to running XPX to full effect. It is stable, loads of excellent freeware and payware to enhance the flight experience, and one is not paying for the priviledge of being a beta tester .Don't get me wrong-I will be updating to XPX at some point in the next few months but I'll wait until all the initial gremlins are sorted and the various plug-ins and payware/freeware I use have been confirmed stable. Not to mention updating my graphics card. Hopefully XPX will also get the USB dongle treatment like I have for XP9 that keeps the disc out of the drive. There are also other little things that will keep me in XP9 for quite some time. Having FS Commander aliased and working, VA ACARS, XSquawkbox for VATSIM, and other little bits 'n bobs that I find essential. In the meantime I'll carry on reviewing and flying quite happily under v9.7. Having just added REX to my install I am quite excited to show it off in my next piece and will add some additional images to another review that should be out momentarily (once Robert gets done red-penning it). You want clouds? Hoo boy have I got clouds for you!CheersTed AVSIM Staff ReviewerBush Is Good!
December 15, 201114 yr Did xp9 have a dongle that is not the $750 option I see for xpx? I hate the disc in the drive thing, mostly because I am in a pit and the disc drive is not always easy to get at. I would rather have some nasty DRM than have to physically swap discs. That seems so 1.44mb floppy to me :) Also I would just get a bit ticked off at being a paying user to have to then pay to rid myself of the disc thing. Oh the irony. I guess this has been thrashed to death before so not trying to bring it up again if so.
December 15, 201114 yr Commercial Member XP9 had a $20 USB dongle available in limited numbers. It remains to be decided whether XP10 will have the same thing.
