December 15, 201114 yr Hello,I am experiencing poor performance while on FSX on my system, especially with FRAPS. This mostly happens when I am at Brisbane, Australia (ORBX Scenery) in the NGX or 744X. For example, when I'm on final at Brisbane in the NGX VC, I can experience FPS as low as 6 FPS, and that is when I am not recording with FRAPS. Also, when taxiing towards the gate and there's a custom (ORBX) Building, Static aircraft or one or more AI Aircraft from Just Flight's Traffic X, the FPS drop below 10FPS. The FPS in these areas rarely (actually, probably never) rise above 10FPS. My settings are in the mid-high range, and there are only about two ("Special effects " slider in the "Scenery" tab and "Global textures" slider in the "Graphics" tab) that are at the maximum setting. My system specs are in my signature. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kevin L
December 15, 201114 yr 1) Any tweaks installed ?2) Defragged recently?3) Latest AMD Processor and Graphic Card drivers?4) As a yardstick, what FPS on the default 737 on KSEA? December 15, 201114 yr Look for DPC latency issues while you're using fsx. I had a similar problem, and on my case, it was because of excesive latency. Juan Ramos
December 15, 201114 yr Kevin, no offense, but you're asking a lot of that 1055T and R. 4800. Orbx with the NGX with the processor at 2.8GHz and on a aged Radeon. You'll just have to pull the sliders back a bit.Is overclocking an option? You'll get a decent boost in performance, but don't expect miracles out of that machine. FRAPS isn't going to help the issue, obviously. The title was a bit misleading! ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
December 15, 201114 yr Zach's 100% correct. Your system is a good system, but not at 2.8 and what you have set. Follow Judes advice and maybe give Nick's install and tweaking a thorough read. I have 1+ghz more than you with a 2.6 cpu and it makes a world of difference than when I was at default. Fraps? That too is heavily on your system even for a 4ghz. Once again, Jude's advice on the defrag and such. Hope you're not wanting audio with though. Even with my system at 3.8 I see single digits at times. It's not the software, it's the hardware and expectations in this case. i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier

December 15, 201114 yr Haha, sorry about that Zach, doh. It's like Luke said. I must have just caught some of the color of your avatar pic and my mind went from there. Amazing how picture association works, aye?Anywho, there was time so I made the correction Good thing I at least kept Jude and Juan separate though. Their avatar is the same, and both their names begin with JU! i9 10920x @ 4.8 ~ MSI Creator x299 ~ 256 Gb 3600 G.Skill Trident Z Royal ~ EVGA RTX 3090ti ~ Sim drive = M.2 2-TB ~ OS drive = M.2 is 512-gb ~ 5 other Samsung Pro/Evo mix SSD's ~ EVGA 1600w ~ Win 10 Pro Dan Prunier
December 15, 201114 yr o.oMy ears were burning...It's also satisfying to my ego to see I can be right without saying anything! That's a nice trick there. ; )Zach/Dan are right. Oc will help you noticeably, but to really get the eye candy & performance you want will require a 4+ ghz CPU coupled with a decent graphics card. December 15, 201114 yr Thought I'd update my avatar to avoid confusion Jude BradleyBeech Baron: Uh, Tower, verify you want me to taxi in front of the 747?ATC: Yeah, it's OK. He's not hungry. December 15, 201114 yr Those AMD x6 CPU's are good for the price if you have a use for all 6 cores. Unfortunatelly that's not the case for FSX. Overclocking should help and 4GHz is quite realistic for a Phenom II x6, but your 1055T is not unlocked so it relies on the motherboard and it's capability to up the FSB to achieve high clocks. Well, I googled your board and apparently it's not good for OCing unless you get a kit to cool down your VRM.Anyway, even at 4GHz AMD CPU's ar far slower than Intel's at the same frequency and are a poor choice for FSX, sorry to say.As for Fraps, it's CPU intensive, but runs in a single thread. You can optimize performance with fraps by setting the affinity so that it doesn't run in the same core as the FSX fibers (core 0) and especially FSX's main thread (core 1 by default)If you have run Bojote's tweaking tool it will have added an affinitymask=14, with cores 4 & 5 free to run Fraps.
