December 27, 201114 yr I love the idea of allowing us to more freely communicate with each other. thank You for the ongoing improvements, care and attention to the forums and the Avsim site! However, I immediately feared it could be become a supplement for the forums and for those really impatient folks that can't wait for someone to respond. Sure enough I look up and it is "look at my link" "Who is going to help me now!!!" "look here" "help me"Was the purpose of the shoutbox really intended for people who are too impatient to wait for a response to scream at everyone they need help? I think it should be made clear if the shoutbox is a support mechanism or not and if not it should be made clear in the beginning that support is in the appropriate forums and shoutbox is for general communication or this is going to get ugly quick....I have to admit I don't like logging in to see people screaming with 10 exclamation points DUDES HELP ME WHERE ARE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!Just my .02,-Paul Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
December 27, 201114 yr I fully agree! Is there a way to disable the shoutbox on one one's own Avsim setup?
December 27, 201114 yr I fully agree! Is there a way to disable the shoutbox on one one's own Avsim setup?Perhaps we could only allow the Shoutbox for users that have over 100 posts. Now that is an idea. I will talk to some other AVSIM Staff to see what they think of the idea.Aaron G. PMDG Boeing 737NGX Captain
December 27, 201114 yr Author Thanks for listening Aaron, again, I love the idea, my immediate fear was that it was going to be abused though and sure enough, it is... Perhaps a sticky in the forums that shoutbox is not for support or bringing attention to existing posts...Sorry, it was BStolle, who asked how to shut the box off, not Aaron! (Flightsimgeek) BStolle go into preferences under or to the right of the shoutbox. You will see an option for display global shoutbox, check no and poof it is gone :) Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk

December 27, 201114 yr Found the tick box for the shoutbox NOT to be displayed :( (it's in the shoutbox options)
December 27, 201114 yr The minimum post rule is a great idea! Though it should probably be a little more. I avoid the shoutbox because it's full of 10-14 year olds and recently has harbored some morally questionable types. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

December 27, 201114 yr You´re right on this, Paul. it´s somehow nice but alos a bit anoying to log in and theist what I see is someone who wrote ten times "HEPL ME!!!!!" or something else. Is there a way to disable the shoutbox on one one's own Avsim setup?Just click on the cross on the right side and it´ll close. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
December 27, 201114 yr I agree. I will be removing the function entirely in a few minutes. Judging from the input to the system so far, it serves no real purpose.
