Thinking about Upgrading to this.....

Have a look at the Hyper Threading discussions on this forum and whether to have it set to enableddisabled and how you should then set your AffinityMask in FSX.cfg. I have Hyper Threading enabled and AffinityMask=84 which I found made a noticeable improvement on FPS. Some have it disabled but it's worth reading the threads. I'll be watching how things develop with the IB and saving up my pennies!

From one Bradley to another,Good move going for the i5.As you stated, there is no hyperthreading in this CPU,and no need (from reading the posts on it.)I might actually drop my CPU speed to see how I get on (currently @ 4.3Ghz,and gettings ~40 fps in the air with REX,and ~ 18fps on the Aerosoft EHAM scenery.

X-Plane 12 and MSFS2020  🙂

System specs: Windows 11  Pro 64-bit, Ubuntu Linux 20.04 i7-13700KF  Gigabyte Z790 RTX-4060-Ti , 32GB RAM  1X 2TB M2 for X-Plane 12,  1x256GB SSD for OS. 1TB drive MSFS2020

Does anyone have an opinion how 2011 will compare to Ivy Bridge?

I am still adjusting things here... I just wiped my FSX.cfg and did a used Bojote's cfg tool, only adjustment I made was to bring particle reject readius down to 2.0 and thats it. The performance increase is another 10 frames on average. I am blown away at how FSX is running. This latest boost will allow me to bring my dedicated FSX OC down to 3.9 or even 3.8 to keep from beating the processor up. I am also still bringing the core voltage down as well. Started at 1.3 for the 4.0 OC and I am now at 1.26. I am guessing as soon as bring the OC down to 3.8 I will be able to bring the Vcore down even further. Right now at 4.0 and 1.26 my temps never exceed 40c while running FSX.The cool thing about this asus board is the fact that ASUS AI suite allows me to change overclock settings while FSX is running live. This way I can see the difference in FSX performance. This is amazing!JB
