One Good Reason Why You Sould Use Prepar3D...........

Featured Replies

Hi,P3D gives me one to five additional FPS, granted not much, but that's not what matters. Prepar3D runs smoother on my system than FSX, even with the higher graphic demands placed on it. If I tried the same graphic settings in FSX, I'd have a studdering mess using the PMDG737-NGX on final into an FSDT airport.

Fare enough. We will see what DX-11 has to offer.

Hi,Yeah, I just hope backward compatibility is not broken with this type of move.

Experienced no crashes whatsoever with P3D. Haven't noticed any significant fps increase, but it runs smoother and with less stutters than FSX.

And that's again one reason why P3D is a bit risky. Since they aren't in it for us simmers, they probably won't care too much if we suddenly can't use a specific addon that's meant for FSX anyway. New stuff may break old stuff, new directions may close doors, and whatever they do, home users don't really have the right to moan about it. You said elsewhere that if at some time P3D would progress in such a way that it won't be of any use anymore, you would stick with the latest version that still worked. But CAN you...? You have to pay every month so you have to be connected to their servers and maybe you are forced to upgrade because, well, you are a developer officially, and so you have to develop for the lastest version otherwise it's no good for LM.Ok, I am taking it a bit far and I am probably exaggerating but somehow (and I don't want to spoil anyone's bright looking simming future with my doom and gloom) but we simply can't be sure how things are going... MS let FSX down after SP2 but developers were free to build on what we had (luckily). We don't know if that will be possible with P3D. And once you are used to P3D (and specially if version 2 is indeed the miracle we are all hoping for) there is no getting back to ugly old FSX...I really hope LM will take a stand sometime soon and change the EULA or show they are dedicated to home simmers too. Until then I don't trust it at all.

Hi,I just left a message on P3D's forum asking that very question since my original question was answered. Here is the breakdown.I asked if a DX9 / DX11 option was going to be made available. Since FSX did this for DX9 and DX10, I thought I'd ask them if this option (DX9 / DX11) was going to be included with their updates. I was told no, it will be DX11 with DX10 support, no selectable option. I am now waiting on an answer to the following question: Can I continue to keep an older version of P3D and still maintain my monthly sub. That will be a key answer, at least for me and the continued use of P3D.I also can't see how the developer option would be a problem, my response would simple be, I want to design for DX9 not DX11.

Very good! It's better to ask now, before investing money and time in something that might not be worth it in the end! I really hope we will get some clarity on how LM is looking at the simmers and if there is some sort of insurance on a future with P3D for home use. Please keep us posted!EDITI went to the forum and noticed I am registered there: forgot about that. I'll keep an eye on your topic there and post some questions of my own too.

I believe it has already been stated by LM that DX11 will very likely break backward compatibility. Also, were you not running Track IR on your FSX setup?

Hi,That's one of the reasons I asked if I can continue to use an older DX9 copy of P3D and continue to use the monthly option. P3D runs better than FSX and for $10.00 a month I find the performance upgrade worth it. As far as TrackIR, I stopped using it some time ago, I end up with a stiff neck after flying a few hours using TrackIR.

Naturalpoint doesn't support Prepar3d 1.2 (yet ?) but Trackir works fine when used with EZCA (updated for P3D by Marniftarr, the developper) .

Do you work for Prepar3d ? Why do you want everybody to use Prepar3d ? You keep posting the same quote post after post. I think we all seen that quote a million times already! Get over it already. Its FSX for 10 dollars a month, Simmers will make the move when the DX-11 patch is ready.
Do you work for x-plane?Sick of the same people posting the same nonsense about 'EULA this and EULA that'. You have your answer DIRECT from LM. What more is needed?Get over it already!

I imagine that they are mostly fixing a few broken things with the DirectX 10 rendering mode that was added in FSX SP2. Breaking compatibility is probably something they want to avoid.

Hi,Well, no definitive answer just jet. But the answer I got is not a no, so it may turn out to be a good thing.Quote From P3D "I don't think that will be a problem, but as we have not released any official licensing details, I can't give you a definite answer. Beau"

1. A commitement to the community rather then the same old line about 'Commercial Grade Product"2. Answering emails from PMDG and other developers.3. Some guarantee that they are being honest. It is Lockheed Martin, probably the most crooked company on the planet, who we FIRED as a contractor because they flat out lied to us through their teeth./Yes I am biased against them due to my previous dealings with Lockheed Martin.

Big Sigs with PC Specs are just another way for men to Compensate.
