January 10, 201214 yr I've done as other users have done in that I've transferred all my NGX docs and those charts I use a lot to the fondleslab, but is there another world-wide EFB like FS Kneepad available? Or a 'pad version of vroute.premium? Thanks! Edited January 10, 201214 yr by quadraspleen JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
January 10, 201214 yr I know people have got Aivlasoft EFB working on iPad. Check it out:http://www.aivlasoft.com/products/index.htmlI think there's some explanation on how to set that up in the forums. I own Aivlasoft EFB and have it working in tandem beautifully with my Macbook Air via Parallels. Maybe someone could comment about the iPad... Brandon Burkley

January 10, 201214 yr I've got my jeppesen charts and flight planner on mt I pad it's brilliant for real world means less paper! But it's great for FSX use. Also have a product called oz runways which puts all terminal charts and WAC charts on iPad with moving map display for real world. Both products are downloadable via App store but user pays of courseI'll try post some pics Edited January 10, 201214 yr by Twistgrip Steve FOffshore Helicopter Pilot ME-IFR AW139 / Sikorsky S92 SpecsWin 106th Gen Intel Core 6700 liquid cooledIntel 100 chipset4 processor 8 way multi16GB DDR4512 GB Intel pro SSD2TB 7200 rpmSata 3 HDNvidia GTX 1060
January 10, 201214 yr Try Foreflight. It's for RW charts, but there's a 30 day trial. $75 a year for non-Geo referencing HD version after the 30 days. That's the price (one time) for Aviasoft IIRC.I use this program (geo-ref version) on my Ipad 2 in both RW and simming. Very, very easy navigation and the leading EFB software in the app store. Wing-X also has a 30 day trial, but it's UI is less than friendlyIf only there were a way to link FSX to Foreflight! Pete Dawson could do this with FSUIPC 4 I'm assuming. Would need to stream GPS coordinates to the Ipad via blue tooth app. Hmmm Edited January 10, 201214 yr by ZachLW ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules
January 11, 201214 yr Commercial Member I use FS Kneeboard and I think it suits me for flight simming. It has checklists for the NGX and other popular payware aircraft, weather and plates/charts for the US and a notepad.I've contemplated Aivlasoft, but until I start flying in real life again I won't splash that much cash on an iPad app. Owner, Fulcrum Simulator Controls. fulcrumsim.com facebook.com/fulcrumsimulatorcontrols instagram.com/fulcrumsimulatorcontrols twitter.com/Fulcrum_SC
January 11, 201214 yr Aivlasoft is currently running on my laptop. Not worth the extreme price IMO. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Zachary Waddell -- Caravan Driver -- Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/zwaddell Avsim ToS Avsim Screenshot Rules

January 11, 201214 yr Author Great replies, guys. Just what I needed. Thanks. I'm going to get FS Kneepad, but as Paul says above, it's charts are US only. I do a lot of my flying in AU, with the fantastic ORBX stuff, so I'm trying to collate all of the AU sectionals etc, so I'm going to get OZ Runways right now! Thanks for that, Stephen JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
January 11, 201214 yr No worries Jake, you won't be disappointed. I've got a heap of expired IFR Erc charts and if you like I can send them to you. Not sure if you fly in RW you may have access to them already. However these are on OZRunways anyway. It really is great you won't know yourself. I use it for RW flying and it's the bees knees! January 11, 201214 yr Author Hi Stephen,I do fly in RW, but only in the UK (and only GA, not in an NG!), and I have acess to most of the charts I need over here, but anything OZ related would be great. I got OZrunways after your post above. It's fantastic. How do they do that for free? FS Kneepad doesn't seem much better in terms of raw functionality, yet it's £8 (cheap at twice the price even, though IMO) JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
January 11, 201214 yr Commercial Member The reason FS Kneeboard is so much less than the others is that it doesn't have direct access to charts outside the US. In the beginning, I tried obtaining charts from different countries but all quoted ridiculous licensing and royalty fees that it was beyond the reasonable reach of most FSers. Some even flat out refused (Canada being one). There ate ways to download international charts in the form of PDFs directly to the app or transfer them to the app via iTunes and create your own lists of international charts. Noah Bryant
January 11, 201214 yr Morning JakeFirst off, awesome picture. Best comedy of all time. "This isn't 'Nam - there are rules"Second, it ultimately depends on what you are willing to spend. I've searched for many EFB Apps and used them until the free trial ran out. In my humble opinion, unless you are actually flying in the real world, they're a huge rip off for a simmer. Not meaning to take a cheap shot on these programs, but I can't come close to justifying that kind of monthly/annual expense for a computer hobby. My advice would be to list out all the chart providers and simply use their free trial consecutively and thus maximize your time with premium, easily accessible charts. I did this and it surprisingly worked for over a year. Now, I go ahead and pull all the charts I need for the DEP and ARR fields. Then I open these PDFs in ibook and can then easily swipe between whatever plate I need. Thus, if I'm doing US flying I'll go to airnav, get all the charts and have them ready to go. It gets a little more complex if you have to search for international charts, but simply going to the VATSIM homepage for that country is usually satisfactory. Just download the charts to ibooks. I also have planningcharts.de (or something along those lines) permanently saved to ibooks. It's a collection of worldwide charts for quick reference that Lufthansa pilots use. It's OUTSTANDING.
