G500 + Reality XP - will MFD show megenta line ?

Recommended Posts

Hello !Could some confirm/deny that G500 works with RXP GNS 530/430 ? I had read 10's of posts and can get solid answer to decide to buy or pass. Some says it works and others have problems.1. Will Carenado's G500 show on MFD flight plan route entered into RXP GNS530/430 ?2. Will Carenado's G500 follow the changes made into active flight plan ( like selecting approach for example in RXP GNS ? )thanksEricson

1. No2. The autopilot will follow the flightplan in the GNS, including the approach, but the G500 MFD plays no part in this. The PFD will show the GPS course on the CDI, but not the glideslope on an LPV approach (The A36 Bonanza does do this and I hope Carenado will add this capability).

If I enter a direct route into the default 430 it shows on the MFD, so I enter the direct flight in both the default 430 and I have the RXP GNS530 so I have it showing on both the MFP and RXP GNS530. I wish it would show up from the RXP GNS530 along with the procedures for departures or arrivals but that doesn't appear to be the case. But a fantastic plane nerver the less!Martin

thank you Bert and Martin for replies.I was afraid of that. It's a shame that such good bird was spoiled by simple G500 replica. G500 looks nice on screen shots but has very limited functions and that drive me nuts. :( What the point of top notch modelling, hiring good FDE specialist, putting new landing lights etc when you have something in front of your face that can't draw magenta line from when using most popular add-on GPS unit ? :Shocked:I wish that some day Carenado will produce steam gauges version of P46T + RXP GNS530/430 :(

I agree it is a shame, but I'm not sure this is a simple thing to implement...Even some of RXPs own gauges do not show the GNS flightplan, so thismust take a bit of cooperation between RXP and Carenado to pull off, I would think.Would be fabulous to have though! This plane could be really top notch, ifCarenado would follow through to make it just that!

The G500 will show the flight plan that is entered into FSX's flight planner and activated.
That's true but this is not solution. What if you decide to make direct to shortcut or select SID / STAR / app etc ? You would have to entry this into RXP GNS and then edit flight plan via FSX planner ( and then you will find out that FSX nav database is out of date compared to RXP GNS ) Too much hassle for simple f/p change.

And you have to pause your flight - doesn't work well online hehe :)

I'm going to look into at least producing a magenta line to the next waypoint. This is a personal modification, not sanctioned by Carenado..The direction DTK and distance are known, since they are displayed at the top of the PFD.The waypoint name is not known.. so that may not be possible. Not sure how much trouble it is to implement, and how you would resolve the differencebetween the FSX flightplan and the GNS flightplan... but I'll give it a go if we get a couple of rainy days.

Hi Bert,Quick question, with this mod will the MFD now show waypoints AND procedures (approach and departures) from the RXP 530 or just the next waypoint. Would be cool if there was some way to map the image from the RXP 530 onto the MFP, although I suspect that is not a trival task :Money Eyes:CheersMartin

Martin, all I was able to do, was to display the track to the next waypoint, based on the DTK and distance information.Does not matter how the next waypoint is arrived at, could be a flightplan or an approach. It updates as you fly.All the other things would be wonderful, but not possible, unless Carenado and RXP get together andimplement some integration that is currently missing.
