January 25, 201214 yr Being so new as I am to the use of the FMC, I some times make a mess of it all and really need to start all over. Is there a way to "reset" the FMC? (scrach all - escape - CTRL....)I know one answer: "Read the manuals". But please, a little bit of help would be highly appreciated.RegardsCarl MichaelUsually achieved by going back to the route page and clearing the Destination ICAO (Boeing models, though probably the same for Airbus'). January 25, 201214 yr Just a question on one of the op question that he stated he got a des path unachieveable thought this was due to that you havnt changed your pressuation alt to the correct descent alt?No, that's due to the flightplan being shortened suddenly. The FMC looks at your flightplan and calculates where the TOD is so you will get to the next needed altitude without problems. However, if you suddenly get another approach the plane may need to get to a certain altitude a lot sooner then before the change, so much sooner that it's impossible to achieve that. Then you will get the warning that the descent path is unachievable. Edited January 25, 201214 yr by J van E

January 25, 201214 yr Clear the Destination ICAO - thanks! I will try that in my 737NGXRegardsCarl Michael MOBO: ASUS SABERTOOTH X58. CPU: Intel i7-960. GPU: GeForce GTX590-3072MB. PSU: Corsair TX V2 850W. Win7 Ultimate. 12GB DDR3.
January 25, 201214 yr Author I agree with you FLEX1978 and scandinavian13, requesting a hold (in my case I do not request it since I usually fly offline) is the best method to save time and plan the approach when something goes wrong. I have to remember that next time :(

They will be glad to help you out AND you'r talking to a human, not a silly computer voice which was outdated before FSX was released.Bert Van Bulck
January 25, 201214 yr Why on earth do you do auto landings every time? Apart from the fact that it is unrealistic, don't you want to fly the a/craft and feel the satisfaction of making a good landing?Iain SmithOMG, I love (hate) how many of these threads someone will mention something with the word autoland, auto ILS, etc and then people jump from a souiltion an helping to asking why they do this or that. I know I've seen 10 threads were someone asked for help with 'X' then jumped on about autolanding a plane in clear vis and 5 by 5 weather.Who cares if he autoland everytime, lands without landing gear, or flys with the doors open and hair on fire... etc etc etc. Save that 'diss' talk for a real life sim session were someones way outside real world procedures and provide help to the question asked or constructive criticism to the question rather then insulting ones way of simming talking about/asking what satisfation they get outta 'X'. What staisfitys you is just that... you not always, him, us, or we; while I do agree one should grab the plane a land it as much as one can it still dosen't give us the right to question him unless that was his question... IMHO.
