Number of NGX copies sold?
Without official figures from PMDG, I can only be sure of one thing: They've sold at least one copy. (to me)

Holding after missed approach not flown as published
The approach into the LAM hold is on the same heading as a few way points behind it though. As such it's not quite the same as above (where the entry is on a different heading to the actual hold legs), though I'll agree I've never had any issues holding there either.

5 bucks for redownload?
People in this thread complaining about the $5 cost to get the re-download service and then comparing PMDG's offerings to other products they can download 'how much I like' should really stop and think about one thing: - Company X has obviously included the cost of the bandwidth inccurred by offering such an option into the price of the product. This means that if you NEVER re-download, you're paying too much because they've included it in the price. PMDG could have easily put another $5 into the price to cover this and nobody would have known any differently, but PMDG being PDMG they done right be the people that don't need the service and shouldn't be forced to pay for it. Any anyway, anyone complaining about $5 when they couldn't take their own initiative and burn the file to a DVD or copy it to a USB somewhere for archiving needs to stop and think about what they're saying.

PMDG Conference Videos
Not to try and suggest what PMDG should and shouldn't do, why not throw some sort of online NGX party and random draw out a winner from the attendees. Some sort of group flight between a couple of points say a couple of hours apart. At least that'll give one lucky person what they want because otherwise you'll have a queue a mile long for these things...

777 747 V2 HUD
- Cost index used by SAS 738 IRL
Flew GOT to LHR a couple of weeks ago on a business trip. Chatted with the pilots a bit after as I had a 3hr connection time and asked them about the cost index they're using. The answer I got was consistent with the above (6). The pilot's on board said they'd been using 6 exclusively now for nearly three years.- Weird beeping noise randomly plays...
Switch to Manual mode and open/close the valve as necessary to lower the cabin altitude to the levels denoted on the table.- Flight Idle problem, possible solution?
I had a really slow climb yesterday that had me looking for issues (drag/engines etc). I found nothing, but as soon as I moved the Gear Handle from UP to OFF the bird accelerated back up to 250 (It was flying really slowly, like 160KIAS).I thought it must have been something odd I'd done, but now someone else seems to have a related issue.- Nothing in Hugs
It's usually a missing entry in the dll.xml. You can either verify you've got the entry in there or re-install the bird so it'll fix itself. The entry looks like this:<Launch.Addon><Name>PMDG HUD interface</Name><Disabled>False</Disabled><Path>PMDGDLLsPMDG_HUD_interface.dll</Path><DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName><DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName></Launch.Addon>And you'll find it in %appdata%RoamingMicrosoftFSXFinally a friendly welcome to the forum and a short reminder to check the rules of posting in this sub-forum (you need to sign your full name on each post).- question on piracy
Before I say anything else, I'd like to state that I purchased the NGX.This statement is one that I dislike, mainly because it's the same methodology that the record companies use when prosecuting people that have downloaded cd's illegally.Firstly, what's to say that somebody who pirated a product (be it PMDG or otherwise) would have actually bought it instead, thus causing the said profit loss?Secondly, have you thought about the amount of people that would sooner pirate the product to test it first before dropping their money on it? (Being that PMDG has to my knowledge never offered a demo, understandably so due to the complexities of doing so)Thirdly, some countries, including Sweden where I live, now have laws giving the purchaser of online goods the right to return them for a full refund within 14 days due mainly to people buying something without first being able to try it and then only being disappointed, finding out it doesn't work, wrong size etc etc etc. How many times have you bought a CD for instance based on that one good track you heard on the radio only to find out the rest of the CD was crap. Did you get a refund from the CD store? Had you then thought you'd wasted your money? Likewise how many people face the problem of seeing the great aircraft that the NGX is on the masses of Youtube videos only to buy it and find it runs like crap on their system, feel they've wasted their money, have no recourse to a refund and never fly the bird again?Summing up my thoughts, Piracy does not equal Profit Loss. If anything Piracy equals lost opportunity for companies to provide solutions that their potential customers are more comfortable with.(And with regard to the PMDG NGX, I'm sure that's why there's people posting they want to buy the Aerosoft Box instead of downloading from PMDG, because of the refund option.)- HUD no projection
As above, I had the same issue, it was the dll.xml that needed fixing.- ILS approach question
Usually achieved by going back to the route page and clearing the Destination ICAO (Boeing models, though probably the same for Airbus').- Space between glareshield and overhead panel.
- FMC is going crazy with ETA numbers
Took these screens today to illustrate the issue. Note: the sim is paused when taking these, so there's no changing wind effects etc. This swapping is happening on a few times per second basis.- NGX performance anomalies
Had the same issue, it's definetly FSInn's weather over FL200? issue in which temperature goes up instead of down. What you end up with is 20+°C at cruise which kills engine performance. Disable FSInn's control over your weather entirely (or click the CAVOK button).- FMC is going crazy with ETA numbers
I've been getting something similar, but only on some routes, some times. Most likely to do with weather if anything. I'm not using UTX.Basically the TOD point jumps around by a few NM constantly a few times per second until passing it where it disappears (ofcourse). During the descent, longer legs can also show the ETA jumping by one minute back and forth multiple times per second. If anything, it's probably just PMDG's code being too 'quick' and accurate. It ought to normalise this over a period of a few seconds or so (IMO). Though I'm not to know that certain situations in the real thing wouldn't produce the same outcome either...- i5 2500k: Possible to just increase multiplier to overclock to 4,2 ghz?
My i5 2500k went straight to 4.5Ghz with only multipliers... needed a little more juice to get it to 5.0Ghz though. Rock solid there too. Cooled on air with NH-D14.- Missing range rings on FO's N/D
The range rings can be turned on and off in the FMC.- Cockpit Lighting
Is it possible to light it at all? Or is it just the turning on/off bit that doesn't work?- problem with AP
I'm pretty sure I've seen a documentary where this behaviour caused a crash.I.e. It's meant to be that way. Pushing the stick too much while the AP is on should disconnect it. If I recall correctly, throwing the AP disconnect and re-engaging it might help afterwards.Check the manuals, pretty sure you'll find something in there about it.- Revived "passengers vomiting in VNAV mode" thread
I think if anything this clarification and the course of the thread has only served to make it clearer why 'real pilots' say they use vertical speed hold instead of VNAV.Thanks Ryan.- Airac 1112 ESSA missing RWY26 Approach
I'll try with both radio's. Thanks for the tip and info.- Revived "passengers vomiting in VNAV mode" thread
This I can agree with. I too have noticed, especially when new weather data is loaded in and winds shift significantly that the NGX can change pitch to react extremely quickly. If you want to test this, try dropping in a 100kt headwind while climbing. The amount of pitching the NGX does is entirely correct to get back to the proper, just way to quickly. Perhaps the VNAV speed mode needs to 'sample' over a second or so and react a second late instead of immediately. The other "issue" I have is relating to the decel's that are usually placed in between FL110 and FL100 on decent and the aforementioned minimum decent VS. These decels to get down below 250 should really be bigger so the VS can be maintained at a reasonable rate instead of near on levelling out. Quite often I'm seeing the bird go from a -1500 to -1800 VS to like -100 VS to reduce speed. Seems unrealistic, especially given that there's literally nothing stopping the aircraft beginning the decel at 11500 instead and flying 500VS instead or something like that.Note: I'm no pilot nor no boeing engineer. I'm just commenting on what I feel seems more appropriate.- Airac 1112 ESSA missing RWY26 Approach
