January 28, 201214 yr Dear all,After a succesfull installation of PMDG737NGX 800-900 (3118 full installer) in my new PC, i proceeded with the 600-700 expansion (3118 full installer downloaded from PMDG). Attempting the 600-700 installation i faced the error "Feature transfer file - Catastrophic failure" and thus it is impossible to install and use my 600-700 copy.Is there anyone had ever the same issue? (I submitted a ticket in PMDG support but they said that is an OS issue and I' m wondering why on this specific installer only?)Any help will be higly appreciated,Regards,John

The question is why my OS refuses to install the 600-700 expansion only. 800-900 isntalled succesfully few hours ago!Regards,John
January 28, 201214 yr John-That's the exact OS I use.......without issue. Are you sure there have been no file "removals", services stopped etc.? It's a very popular OS with the FS crowd......there has to be something in your setup that is interfering with the installation.......that is different than a stock install. Best- Carl Avari-Cooper

It is a new PC bought with the OS installed and FSX, Acceeleration and every addon (737NGX 800-900 is included) was installed quite succesfully.John

January 29, 201214 yr This particular error usually means that the installer package is corrupted. Have you tried re-downloading the installer from PMDG?If you do re-download, clear your browser cache first, and don't download the new installer over the old one. Instead, save it in a different location on your hard drive. Also, be sure to run the installer as administrator. January 29, 201214 yr One thing: did you by chance relocate any of your document /pictures/music directories etc? This is notorious for breaking installers.-George
January 29, 201214 yr Commercial Member That particular error is actually a failure to write files during the extraction process to the temporary folder - that's why I mentioned the Run as administrator option - Windows is somehow not giving it the proper permissions I'll bet. If you do a Google search on the error you'll see there's plenty of other product installers that have had this issue, it's definitely an OS thing. November 15, 201510 yr Hello all, especially Tabs and support team I've just met with this very error. Redownload did not fly, still same error.... I even had tried to get an installer of a friend... no luck. Turns out I had some privileges issue a bit back. Maybe NTFS table corruption or something, I didn't pinpoint it. Well and as the installer tried to re-create links in my Start menu... it got a fail and quit. @PMDG - Tabs, Kyle or whoever - if you want a writeup how to diagnose this for your KB - PM me. --Peter Fabian
