Aircraft not on the route

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,I noticed something strange during my last few flights.I proceed a direct route to a next waypoint. The distance between the aircraft position and the next waypoint was about 100 NM. During the flight on this 100 NM leg, the aircraft deviated all the way along from the magenta line. The max deviation was about 0.26L.I tried to bring him back on the magenta line using HDG select and after that, when I pressed again LNAV it deviated again from the magenta line. It's only when I was at about 20 NM from the waypoint that it started to go back on the magenta line.I would like to know if it's normal to have such a deviation from the track?NB : I attached a screenshot from the problem.Regards,VincentWindows 7FSXPMDG 737-800/900 with SP1bNo FSUIPCNo other Addon

Yes, that´s your track you see there. It´s because of wind. You see it because you onlyhave set the ND on 2.5NM. All is normal according to me.Also it´s not normal to have it only on 2.5Nm so far away from any airport.Usually you use that when just departing or about to just land/ Leffe

Hi Leffe, thanks for your reply. But I don't understand why it goes offtrack when flying a long distance leg (~100 NM) and this even with zero wind and then, when it goes close to the waypoint (~20 NM), returns on the magenta line.NB : I set the ND on 2.5 NM to show the deviation from the magenta line. :wink:Vincent.

but when your nd is set to say 40nm, it probably doesnt look like its off course. Many aircraft do this.

 Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.

Like the others said, increase the nd range to 40 or more & you'll appear on track. It looks like you're only off about 1000 feet or so on a westerly heading. That could easily be explained by curvature vs. straight-line on longer legs.

Ok, so there is a difference between the route the plane is flying and the route represented on the ND. The plane is flying a curve but the magenta line isn't represented by a curve on the ND but by a straight line.

Which engine display option is that?

I forget the name, but it's not the SIDE-BY-SIDE one, it's the other one, and with FUEL TOTALS instead of the round dials.Pressing the ENG button collapses the ENG info on the upper display, blanking the lower, and the SYS page looks like it's up.

It's called the compact display, but I'm working on the AS config, so I was wondering which option that is in the config.

It's not in the display config as it's own entry, but rather if you press the ENG button above the display there it brings up the compact display, either leaving the lower DU blank or showing the SYS page if selected with the SYS p/b.Maybe you can get PMDG to include as a seperate config in a future SP.

Cool. So in the config, it'd be just be sidebysidedisplay=0.Somehow Alaska's planes default to the compact display whereas other airlines default to the "Normal" N1, EGT, FF only display. I guess "AS pilots" will have to press an extra button or two to get the display right.

Hi guys,Sorry to ask again for another question but I'm curious to understand the system :As you can see on this new screenshot, the aircraft seems to be exactly on the magenta line but it indicates 0.07R.If someone can explain me why the NPS indicates a 0.07R deviation. In the same time I take the screenshot with the "POS" button pressed. So we can see the IRS position and the GPS position too. Does the 0.07R deviation indicate the "white plane" position or the GPS or IRS position? Or maybe something other? Thanks for your patience and explanations.Vincent.201353poslnav2.jpg<a href=mini_634314poslnav.jpg' alt='mini_634314
