FSMeteo Help/New Developmenets

Featured Replies

A few months ago, I got had FS9 tweaked to exactly wher I wanted it. I haven't used FS9 since. Yesterdaay, I went for a flight, and everything was running smooth as I had left it, except for FSMeteo. I could use the downloaded weather I had on my hard drive, but when I went to download new weather, I would get trying server 1, trying server 2, then an FSMeteo encountered an Error/Send a Report Messsage. Even though I would have an open internetr connection before launching FSMETEO, when I would hit the download weather (I download, then shutdown the Internet connection), FSMETEO would not even send any info over the connection--it seemed like nothing was happening, that it was not even contacting the server.I am using Version 6.2, even though Marc sent me 6.4 (becasue of no landing stutters when I last left FS9.Can anyone help? Have there been Any new developments in the past couple of months? Alternatively have there been any other great strides in weather programs? Thanks

there appeared to be a 'discontinuity' with the upper wind and winds data server. this type of thing is rare but it does happen. give it another try as this type of glitch get fixed pretty fast.

CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB
MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro |  GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

Thanks Mike, will do when I get home. It just appeared (from theInternet connection icon that FSMEteo was not even attempting to access the Internet or connect to the server (despite messages to the contrary). I had Zone Alarm on, then off--but no difference. This was another hint that no attempt to access the internet happened--as Zone Alarm gave no message to that effect.

If anyone can make any recommendations re weather programs (freeware or not, i use weather in the following fashion:I download real world weather, shutdown the Internet connection, and fly around with those one time setttings applied, and let dynmic weather setting (medium) gradually change things.Any help would be appreciated.

Just tried again with no luck. I'm preatty sure the program is not accessing the internetr at all, just geting the FSMETEO has encountered an error message after server 2 try.Anyone else run into this? Thanks

Active Sky has the feature you are asking about. Also, it has the ability to archive weather files so you may use them whenever you wish. You wouldn't even need FS to control the changing weather. Active Sky would do that based on the real conditions. For more information:http://www.hifisim.com/Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

JiM: Tried to buy through Simmarket yesterday. Won't accept what I think is my password, says they are sending me a new password, but no e-mail received. E-mailed customer support asking for clarification, no response. Just to let you know. Keith

Thanks Jim, definetly an option I am looking at.

I think you need the latest version of Fs Meteo for it to connect. What is the problem you are having with 6.4? If you get problems while landing, try turning off wake turbulence.

Thanks for the replies.I am also getting an error when I try to use FS2004 to download weather, so I am begining to think this mat have to do with services I previously turned off. anyone know off hand which services I should have enabled? Thanks

Hi Keith,They do get backed up at times. Please send me an e-mail if you still have not heard after 24 more hours.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

Active Sky also uses download terminal area forecasts (TAFs) to realistically change weather according to short term forcasts...works great, doesn't use FS9s dynamic weather which can use some FPSs. That's pretty much exactly how I use it. Best,sg

I am thinking about Activesky, but I want to resolve this issue. I can no longer even download weather from inside FS9. I immedietly get an error connecting, check connection message. So I think this may carry over to active sky. I recently uninstalled IE and now use Opera, but I don't see how that might affect things. I've checked services and think I have all necessary ones running. Does Active Sky have a demo version, so I can see if it wil even download given my (apparent) sys problems? Thanks for all the input guys. Feel free to through out any other ideas as this is driving me nuts!

Hi There..That's the problem. IE must be installed for FS to use the internet as it uses IE Internet controls (same goes for many add-ons including AS2004).. Just re-install IE (don't have to actually use it) and you'll be ok I think..AS2004 requires IE to be installed and a valid internet connection to www.hifisim.com (you can check this on your system)...No demo for AS2004, but we are considering doing that in the future... Hope that helps!Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg

No sorry, no demo version yet. Damain and the team have been pretty busy with just the full version. Can suggest that you delete your FS9.cfg file and let FS re-build a new one. Also, I believe that cookies must be enabled in your browser for FS weather to download.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
