Ivy Bridge Discussion Thread

Very likely a rumor this close to release
I hope... :unsure:I am somewhat bothered that there would be these kinds of rumors so near to release. I hope that the rumors aren't fueled by some kind of internal problem with the 22nm architecture. Also, does anyone have any idea on the pricing of these new chips? 200US Dollars for a 3570K?

Here is another ARTICLE."The delay of the "Ivy Bridge" processor is being reported by DigiTimes, a publication that typically voices the concerns of device makers. Those concerns are just as often opinion as they are fact."I was likely going to upgrade to a new chip just for the sake of early adoption. :Big Grin:Although, I am a regretting my purchase of the P67 chipset now...
Bad link on that article, Ben.DigiTimes is reporting that notebook manufacturers have received notification that Intel is slipping mass delivery of the IB processors. It's hard to consider that an "opinion" per se...it's not saying they're worried Intel might delay shipments, it says Intel has told them so already. Could still be a rumor based on misinformation I guess, but it sounds substantive to me.

I would expect the delay is likely true, seems credible to me.Kind regards,

Sweclockers are reporting that the delay is just for laptop CPUs so Intel can sell off their stock of SB. (cause who would buy SB on a laptop once IB is out unless they are hevily reduced. Think we need better competition here). But no delay expected for desktop IB.EditJust saw that the source is the same Digitimes article, but in the source article they only speak about notebooks, so lets hope that's the case

That sounds plausible. Let's hope so!

Yeah, it sucks some major &@($*.Guess this probably means that Haswell will be delayed too? who knowsI was considering selling my 2600K and fund the upgrade to a 3570K even without PCIe 3.0. Oh well, More time to mull it all over then
Do we know anything about what Haswell will bring? I'm still hobbling along w/ Core 2 Quad and performance is not half bad as long as I stay out of the biggest terminals while in the NGX ;o) Not sure what I will do w/ this thing as it's not ready to be recycled-works too good!

Way too soon to tell Noel, but Haswell is a new architecture so I hope it will bring a nice perf boost, just like Sandy Bridge did
Ivy Bridge is Not Delayed^ I like this guy's writing style

if you go ahead and buy Sandy Bridge now instead of waiting, then all you have to blame is yourself
you sure it's not jahman's or Ben's website?

Haha!
