Guys thanks for your support in this little project of ours. I see some discussion about what the Developers may or may not be thinking. Please before you judge them to hard you have to think about their possition a little. I am sure that they are aware of our thread here by now. If they do intend to offer any specials it would only make since that they hold off for a while just to make sure this whole thing does not go south like so many other threads here at AVSIM lately. (No Offense to Tom or the MODs they are just keep the peace) The last thing any developer would want is to get involved and then have the whole thing locked. In addition let's not forget that the main idea here is to support our sim and the developers. If it turns out we get some nice offers then it is just iceing on the cake. Thanks for you continued support.

Hi Shivers,What do you expect to gain from this ''project''?FSX users will still support 3PD's regardless of the upcoming Flight.Would love if 3PD's discount their products. The problem with FSX is it's getting outdated now(still the best flight sim atm).Don't know how much life is left in FSX.MS seems to have put maybe the final nail in the MS Flight Simulator franchise.MS Flight is taking a different direction to what we're used too, only time will tell if it's a wise move or not.As for the future of 3PD'S It seems that Xplane is their best option if FSX users migrate to Flight.

Hi,As much as I like Mike´s post, I am afraid we need to be realistic too.Keeping FSX alive feels like wishing to keep playing our music records on our turntables. It stops somewhere because the technology changes.I remember once trying to play the first version of FS on my modern pc, it wouldn´t run as I was used to. I think the processor was too fast....In other words, FSX will die at some point. With or without 3PD´s. We can only prolong the product lifecycle a little. We will need a new core engine that keeps up with the development of the processors and how are we going to accomplish that? Which developer will eventually help us acquire that? Already we are struggling with an old engine.Like Word Not Allowed I purchase many add-ons and will continue to do so. But I am hoping a 3PD will stand up on 29 February and announce development of FS11. In that case I think we will have to fund that project thus making a clear statement to this and other FSX developers that this community will go their way.Menno

+1 Well said. I think your post makes so much sense. And a reality check for us.

Cool! You guys rock, but you allready know that :)I'm not in this for the discounts (not that I wouldn't appreciate it), but for the community. It would be nice given recent developments regarding the future of your flight simulator platform of choice.

This thread is starting to sound like "let's all boycott Microsoft on 29th".I'd urge everyone to tone it down a bit please (applies to me-self too).

Done. Edited and toned down my last post :)

Count me in as well. As I have just started up again with FSX after a long hiatus and I have just recently purchased some new add-ons. (UT2 and some others). However, as I am fully in support of this outlook, movement, statement, whatever you want to call it..... I am in!!Here is my little recipe for that day - Mix up some PMDG, add some FSDT, mix in some Orbx, a dash of Iris, a sprinkle of Fly Tampa and I'll top it off with a little Carenado! OK maybe I'll have to leave out some ingredients as funds may not permit, but it will be a good cake.

So I bought Corfu a week ago or so. Feb the 29th might see me buying the A2A B377 with Accusim. After all I heard, it seems like a great plane for caribbean flights. Or perhaps snowy and mountaineous Canada? Anyway, "special locations".

I have couple of things in my view, but I won't reveal them :(

Aren't you LESS likely to get discounts from developers on Feb 29, if they see everyone working themselves up into some sort of collective spending frenzy?Ian

I am really happy with FS9 and FSX. Compared to FS95/98 it is awesome! Just now FSX is starting to get payware releases of military flyware that can fire missiles. Now this is neat!I'm not going to comment on Microsoft's latest offering yet as I haven't really seen it. But I urge all not to knock development of any new product as this does not lend support to the flight simulator community. If used properly Flight Simulator can prepare you for real life flying training. The more you immerse yourself in flight operations the better you will be when it comes to handling the real thing.I have flown for real, and it gives you more confidence to know what you are operating.I also encourage all to know emergency procedures. If you have an idea to handle an emergency you will soon understand that it doesn't NEED to be an emergency if you fly the aircraft! Here is a great example of excellent airmanship!! http://www.watoday.c...1207-1oioj.htmlAs the aircraft was aerobatic it actually recorded the forced landing!! It was on the TV news but I cannot find it on youtube....Daniel

I did as well... :) Now I only need the original FS1 and FS2 box to have them all.
