February 13, 201214 yr Author I have AI Traffic with modern airlines but between them there are Northern Air Cargo, Everts and Florida Air Transport with their DC-6, some "Museum planes" flying here and there (simply to meet one from time to time when I fly around with my "own" DC-6 - thank you Tom for that wonderful model!) and finally parked meat haulers at locations as La Paz and Asunción. So I have included your calclassic AI Sound for this DC's. They are working fine (as I hang around at PANC just at the moment to spot starting and approaching DC-6's).But I think it would be a lot of work to edit every aircraft.cfg I use to include the touchdown effect. A rather economic way I think could be editing FSHotSFX's "AIB_TD.wav" so that approximately 4 seconds of silence are followed by the touchdown chirp. Not very elegant, but effective.Technically and legally that should be possible, as they write on http://fshotseat.com/AIBlast.asp:"The single touchdown screech, AIB_TD, is also available for remapping. The same sound is used for all aircraft and is automatically scaled based on aircraft weight. The touchdown sound must include volume assignment which represents the loudest the screech will play for the heaviest aircraft."Unfortunately I have no software that fulfills these specifications to edit the .wav-file as specified. With the correct equipment, it shouldn't be that difficult...? Edited February 13, 201214 yr by GeyerH Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
February 15, 201214 yr Author It's finally done. After a night of work, every AI Aircraft using FS2004 stock touchdown effect has a new touchdown entry in Aircraft.cfg now. The wrong FSHotSFX's tire chirp is eliminated. It works fine so far. Now time für backup has come. And tomorrow... I think I will fly a little bit.Thank you all for helping and sharing your knowledge and opinions here in the forum.Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
August 5, 201213 yr Author Some follow-up information: I recently upgraded my CPU; after this my registration key for FSHotSFX wasn't valid anymore. I contacted SWReg and they did set back the key over night. The day after I flew with registered FSHotSFX again. :Applause: Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
February 9, 201313 yr A new AI sound product was released today by Sky Song. The video makes it look (sound) pretty good but I'd be interested to hear if anyone has tried it yet Ian
February 9, 201313 yr They only replace 1 on 1 existing files, so of course there will be limitations on what they can do. The sounds seem better than whatever I have at present, played back to back. But they seem a little too quiet somehow? I'll give it a day or three & see...
February 11, 201313 yr Author But they seem a little too quiet somehow? Skysong suggests to set the environment volume level to 100 %. Do the new sounds still be too quiet with this settings? It would be a nice addition to FSHotSFX for taxiing planes which aren't affected by this add-on; I will test it the next days. P.S. Nice to see this old thread (my very first own topic) to be digged out after almost exactly one year... On this opportunity, I'd like to express my Appreciation to this great community! February 12, 201313 yr Happy anniversary Harald! I don't see too much advantage in these new sounds frankly. They're probably better (certainly the files are bigger) than what I have (not stock, granted, but certainly freeware). But due to the limitations of the FS9 engine, ai_lgjet01.wav and others will sound like a distant steam kettle no matter what: no cadence, no volume change, no doppler shift. A slightly bigger steam kettle doesn't really do it for me. And, Aaron, you've sold us the same sound file for ai_lgjet01.wav ai_lgjet02.wav and very slightly quieter xai_lgjet01.wav and xai_lgjet02.wav!
February 12, 201313 yr Author Thanks WingZ! I already hesitated to test these files yesterday when I realized that I have to pay just to do this test. The add-on recommended above in this thread will do it for me as long I have WinXP. Harald Harald Geyer Gründer der Messerschmitt Freunde Dresden v. V.
February 13, 201313 yr I'm really curious as to why this FSHotSFX only works in Windows XP. How come the developer hasn't thought about making the software compatible with Windows 7? I'm sure many of us simmers will gladly pay to have an addon that really enhances the simulator. Really perplexing, but the immediate question that springs to mind is if the developer is even supporting this utility as of now.
February 13, 201313 yr There is no support for the package now, except reactivating the code needed to install the program again. Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
February 13, 201313 yr FSHotSFX was the only reason I built my now three year old PC with dual boot XP and Windows 7. For FSX, the closest thing to FSHotSFX is Flight One's Audio Environment.
February 15, 201313 yr You can do almost all that FSHotSFX can do in FSX by use of the soundai folders in each AI aircraft's folder. Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
