February 14, 201214 yr People have the right to be disappointed. They have a right to voice their complaints towards a company. They have a right to do this in public. Microsoft has the right to ignore those complaints, or act on them as it sees fit. I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with this. If you are excited about Flight, then I am happy for you. If you are disappointed that FS will not be continued in the form you have grown to love, then I understand. I've probably got a foot in both of these camps. I'm curious about Flight, but disappointed that I probably won't be able to develop add-ons anymore.Avsim is gracious enough to allow debate unless things get out of control. I have seen pretty poor behaviour on both sides in the Flight forum. The OP has made it quite clear what side he is on, but I don't see things so polarized as he does. As a customer, I do feel needy sometimes. If I don't get what I want, I complain. If I don't get what I want, then I accept that the company is willing to suffer the loss of this one customer to meet their business model. I think that is the case here. MS developed a business model that didn't include legacy FS enthusiasts. That's life, but it doesn't mean I have to be quiet about my disappointment. My site: www.martinstrong.com/FS_Project.htm
February 14, 201214 yr Looking back at the history of PC Based Simulation it would be nice of someone did a modern version of Flight Assignment ATP. I am one of those MSFS users that use FSX primarily to simulate Airline and Cargo operations. I rarely use it for General Aviation flights. I think it is the users who are primarily into ATP flights that will be alienated by Flight.I wouldn't even mind a mainland USA based simulator that has a great range of Airliners to choose from, great weather and ATC. Kind of like Flight Assignment ATP for 2012. I wonder what Stu Moment is up to these days? Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
February 14, 201214 yr All they had to do is say it was a game from the start and not appealing to the existing base...right? It would have been case closed. No, they don't owe us anything, but neither do we. Jeff D. February 14, 201214 yr Isn't "sickening" a bit excessive to describe your disappointment that MS won't continue building your favorite flightsim series? Not at all. And it isn't about losing my favorite flight sim. It's about the loss of 20+ years of progress and all the effort made by thousands of people in making the MSFS environment into something better than the multimillion dollar systems I used professionally when I was an instructor training USAF pilots in the 1980s. February 14, 201214 yr People have the right to be disappointed. They have a right to voice their complaints towards a company. They have a right to do this in public. Microsoft has the right to ignore those complaints, or act on them as it sees fit. I don't understand why anyone would have a problem with this.No one is saying that people should be censored or only allowed to post positive comments about Flight. But if you voice an opinion then someone else will respond to it. Not at all. And it isn't about losing my favorite flight sim. It's about the loss of 20+ years of progress and all the effort made by thousands of people in making the MSFS environment into something better than the multimillion dollar systems I used professionally when I was an instructor training USAF pilots in the 1980s. But we haven't lost anything.FS9 and FSX still exist and so do all the addons for them. And as long as there are enough people using it there will be people developing for it.That MS decided to take a different path won't change this, they only provided the platform. If there is a marketniche for serious flightsimulation then someone will fill it.We already have X-plane, and some other contenders. (like Prepar3D)Just watch them and at some point move on to the most promising product. And in the mean time there still is FS9/FSX to enjoy.
February 14, 201214 yr I'm just SO BORED with 'Flight Club'...I did what you said and had a look, and it makes my brain ache wading through even a fraction of it.Good or bad, I'm sick of Flight already and it hasn't even appeared... Can you imagine how much worse it's going to get? There, that's my pointless grumpy post on the subject. :Phbbbt:All the best. :Kiss:Ian
