Will hi-res bump maps cause OOM errors or other problems?

I'd hate for these to go to waste... :(fsx2012-02-2916-44-57-32.jpgfsx2012-02-2916-14-47-11.jpgfsx2012-02-2916-14-23-92.jpgfsx2012-02-2916-13-09-23.jpgfsx2012-02-2916-11-53-98.jpg

If you need any help checking or problem solving just let me know via PM, I'm interested to know if it's just you or is there something really that weird going on with them!

I'm not actually having problems yet. I was just hoping to leave the new maps in 4096 res, but I wasn't sure if it would be too taxing on people's computers. Mine seems fine while on the ground testing the textures, but I havent flown with them yet.Finishing up the tail, then on to the wing!On edit: I'm pretty pleased with the result so far. They will be able to be used with any -700 livery, not just the Southwest's. I plan to upload them with my spec files separate from any livery so everyone can use them, not just us Southwest drivers. I'm going to post a few more previews in a few minutes.

That looks better than McPhrat textures, you can sell those like they do!!
Nah, they'll be free for everybody. I can't compete with the pro's, but I appreciate the compliment! Here are a set of previews. I'll do the wing tomorrow.fsx2012-02-2920-46-31-31.jpgfsx2012-02-2920-47-43-94.jpgfsx2012-02-2921-10-31-97.jpgfsx2012-02-2921-22-59-65.jpgfsx2012-02-2921-25-33-62.jpgfsx2012-02-2921-26-22-72.jpgfsx2012-02-2921-34-52-95.jpgfsx2012-02-2921-36-59-80.jpgfsx2012-02-2921-52-22-44.jpgfsx2012-02-2921-59-54-84.jpgGoodnight!

These shots are unbelievable. My jaw literally dropped looking at the last set of pictures. The delta livery looks awesome. Can't wait for that one.

Should be fine, being as the stock house skins are 4096. My everyday Southwestjets are only 1024.. But I do that to conserve memory and have more overhead forslightly denser scenery, etc. But I don't seem to have any problems when I useone of the other planes that are 4096. I still don't OOM. So I don't think it should betoo much of an issue for most. Only if one was right on the edge.. Which I sort of am,being I'm using XP32..One note about the canyon blue.. I saw another post where you said you tried lotsof different shades.. I'm the same way.. I'm ultra picky about that shade of blue.Anyway... I'm of the lowly opinion that the shade of blue you are using now is slightlyoff.. It's a little too bright/light, and saturated.. To me anyway..One interesting thing.. Notice your first picture. See how it appears that the two sidetextures are slightly different shades? The one at the nose is less saturated than themiddle of the fuselage. This may just be a view quirk or something, but I see a difference. To me, the nose looks very close as far as the blue shade. But the texture behind itlooks off a tad.. To me, the nose looks a lot closer to what I see in real life, than thefuselage texture behind it.But... on the second picture, the nose looks pretty saturated, kind of like therear texture on the first image.. This is why I say it might just be a view quirk. The nose on #5 is pretty close..What is really a pain on that shade of blue is that it looks different depending onhow bright it is, in a hangar, or outside in the bright light, etc.. So it's really a hardcall to get it just right. But I see a lot of these in the real world, and in the daytime, they don't look quiteas saturated as your brighter shades. They reflect a lot of light from the sky andclouds, and it looks a lot lighter than if it were sitting in a hangar. This is why I changed from the stock PMDG paints for Southwest.. Too me, theylooked too dark. That shade is closer to how they might look in a hanger at nightor whatever when you are right next to one..They don't look that dark in the daytime. So I redid mine to make them a bit lighter.Yours are a lot closer to the daytime look than the PMDG version, but somethingabout your blue still nags me a bit.. :/But I'll show you why..I've taken many pictures of these, and to my eye, these are very close to whatthe human eye actually see's in most cases. They may look under-saturatedcompared to many photo's you see, but it's my lowly opinion that they maybe over-saturated as far as their photo's.Anyway, these are very close to what my real eye sees, or at least on mymonitor, brightness, etc..Take this one.. To me, this looks very close to what I see in the real world..This blue is not quite as "bright" looking as your are in most shots.h5.jpgAnd another sitting on the ground. Notice how it looks fairly light comparedto some images. That's all that light mixing in with the blue paint.. And to me,this looks fairly true to what my real eyes see when I'm looking at it.h37-2.jpgA pretty light blue, but still a tad different, and not quite so "blue-bright"as some of yours. Take the first vert stab image in the second set of images.Doesn't look quite right to me..Anyway, I hope you don't take this the wrong way. Your paints are very good.I'm just mentioning this as a second opinion, and I know from your previousposts that you have wrangled with this issue.. As have I... I still haven't totallylocked down the shade of blue I'm using quite yet.. Subject to change as Ifurther tweak. I'm looking for that "perfect" shade. As I sure you are too.. :)BTW, you can see the shade I'm using at the moment.. This is one I didright after the 700's came out, and I haven't messed with it much since. And my 800 is slightly different.. Mine are just a tad darker than yours I think. And I'm not saying mine are perfect.. Like I say, subject to change as I continueto look at them. I'm pretty sure I'm going to tweak my 800 some more beforeit's over. That one I did back in August/Sept..Anyway, at the 1:50 point in this video you can see about what I'm using atthe moment. Brighter than PMDG's version, but I think just hair less brightthan yours. Figure I better show mine, if I'm going to comment on yours.. :/My 800 is probably just a hair less saturated than my 700..The video will show it from the various angles, etc..

Thanks for the feedback, Mark. I discoverd after buying a Heath Ledger Joker costume that cameras don't pick up purple very well and tend to shift it to a lighter or darker blue, so a few days ago I drove over to the airport to have a look with my own eyes and the first think that struck me was the purple or violet in the blue. These are the photos that look the closest to what I saw. What do you think?http://www.blogsouth...r-first-737-800http://www.flickr.co...uff/6712061477/http://www.flickr.co...N05/6717806623/http://www.flickr.co...N05/6717806077/http://swamedia.com/photos/f90c/86c2/f90c86c2-0262-4629-b7f3-53069ae443f7-390x250.JPGI'll definitely keep tinkering with it.

The top one is what I call the "hangar" look. They look dark in hangars. I think due tothe different light temp vs sunlight. I've never seen one really look that dark outin the sunlight. Or to my eyes anyway. The others look over saturated. Note how dark blue the sky looks. Too blue..The last might be fairly close, but doesn't really show enough to make a realdecision. The two in the pictures I posted look pretty close to what I see with my eyes. But they will vary to the angle, the way the sun is shining, etc..That's what makes it such a pain to nail down. That Kitty Hawk 300 is dangedclose to what my eyes see in person. And the one waiting to take off seemsabout right too. He was fixing to go on 12R at Hobby.. Waiting for traffic.Anyway, hate to rag on your paints, as they are all good.. It's just every time Isee that bright blue you have been using, something in my brain says"a little off maybe?" :/ .. So I decided to mention it, being as I saw you mention thisdilemma one time a while back. I'm super picky when it comes to canyon blue, and have been wrestling with this issue myself. It's a hard one to get to look justright in FSX.

The SWA blue color is incredibly hard to get perfectly right. I lived in Phoenix for many years and saw them every day constantly - it looks different depending on the lighting and depending on how much the pigment has faded. Some of the older ones that haven't had the paint refreshed in a while look almost like a lighter sky blue, while a brand new one can have a nearly purple look to it.We tweaked the SWA colors last week actually when Pete updated the 800WL to be the actual N8301J that's being delivered this month - SWA's first 800.wn800wl.jpgThat looks like a pretty good average of how the real ones look as far as I can tell being someone who's seen a ton of them. We updated the other liveries to the tweaked colors as well - they'll go up with SP1c.
