March 1, 201214 yr There are actually 3 static military helicopters parked at Hilo. ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE
March 1, 201214 yr Ok in some of the caches it says that you may have to walk or use a chopper to find some but are there any in the game yet?All of the Aerocaches that might require a helo *can* be obtained with a little creativity? I found that with proper location scouting the Icon can be made to land in a very short distance! Then it was hoping out of the plane and hunting for Aerocaches on foot. I will admit to not trying to retrace my steps in going to find where I left the Icon.
March 1, 201214 yr Based on my own experience of thousands of hours of flightsimming I have a theory of why there are no helicopters in FLIGHT yet:Hawaii is made up of islands that are too small, with far too many hills and trees for me to safely land a helicopter. I need no less than a flat unobstructed area the size of North Dakota, and even then, it is likely to hit the ground either too fast, or on its side. If I can't land a chopper within a country mile of an airport, how can some newbie that is flying for the first time? Answer me that! :LMAO:

At least in the oil rig mission in FSX you didn't have to technically land on the catwalk for the third guy. Bring us CHOPPERS!!!!!

I've actually (after building my new computer last month and waiting for Flight to release) been trying to develop my rotary wing skilss with FS9 - and reading all the articles at Hoversim. I can now maintain a hover for AT LEAST a minute inside a football field sized area! It's been a new challenge for me, and I've enjoyed it.Ooops...sorry...this is the Flight forums. What I'm trying to say - in my longwinded way - is that I'm looking forward to some DLC that includes a helicopter.
March 2, 201214 yr If you go into the hangar and click on the details icon, looks like a dog-eared piece of paper, there is an entry under "specifications" for "Rotor Diameter".All in due time I think.Helos are a natural for Hawaii, the islands are full of them.regards,Joe Edited March 2, 201214 yr by N60JBravo The best gift you can give your children is your time.
March 2, 201214 yr You can also see hints that helicopters will come - one example is landing pads on ships.
