Flight @2560x1600 performance

Featured Replies

Just bought a U3011 Dell 30'' monitor this week.Have all settings at max in Flight and im getting decent fps.Lowest fps around built up areas are 27-32,everywhere else about 45-60.Even when it drops to mid 20s I don't notice any stutters/screen tearing, still very smooth.Im only using a gtx 580 1.5gb gpu. Can't wait to upgrade to the gtx 680 2gb when released later this year. Can't believe how good gaming is at 2560x1600,will never go back to anything lower. Can other members post their performance with Flight @25600x1600?BTW FSX at this res is also fantastic looking with very little AA problems.Glad to see so many people enjoying Flight, interesing few months ahead.

Have no idea my FPS, but using a 'first release' i7 + GTX275 + Dell 30" @ 2560x1600 with Flight on 'High' and haven't had a lick of FPS issues - all very smooth. BTW, try the PMDG J41 @ 2560x1600 - I can't do it as it gets graphically 'crazy'.

I'm jealous! How far do you guys sit from the 30" monitor? I'm on a 25.5" Samsung and my eyes are 18-24" away. Thinking about an upgrade. I have similar specs to you Rush, with a 285.

I sit about 2ft from monitor, was using a Dell 27'' for the past 3 years, was nervous moving to a 30'' but so glad i did.

I've got the HP 30in. All settings in Flight set to high (ultimate, if available). I didn't check FPS, but it was very smooth. I'm running an i7-965 oc'd at 4.14, GTX580 3GB, 6GB OZC Gold 1600 at 8-8-8-24. Win 7 64bit. FSX and Win 7 is installed on the solid state drive. Flight is relegated to my data drive but runs well nonetheless.I agree that, after flying on the 30in at 2560x1600, I could never go back.

You guys are killing me! Just did about two hours of Flight and decided that my monitor is huge enough, LOL, then I see your comments.Lawyer, I'm not an overclocker (really have to get over that) and run an i7-920 stock @2.67, same OCZ gold as you. With that 580, do you really need to overclock to get great results? I'm very smooth with all settings on high at 1920x1200. Again, I have a GTX 285, and waiting on the Keplers coming in the next month or whatever.

Run on the same monitor and have both blurries and stutters...

I use a 32" 1080p hdtv and since installing flight wish it was a 37.

My main flightsim monitor is a 42" LED HDTV using an HDMI input. It's awesome! :Peace:

I have a 40", but found 1080p to be a bit low resolution for such a big screen, so I often go back to the 30".

I'm the opposite, I use a DLP projector which gives me a 9 foot screen, but limited to 1280x768, and I find with the bigger screen size, resolution isn't as important!! I can see the detail of the PMDG NGX cockpit just fine right down to the serial numbers on the windshield!!

Thanks

I like to fly at minimum zoom, so I need the resolution to read the gauges. I find that minimum zoom (0.30) gives a better sense of speed. At normal zoom things go too slow outside the cockpit for my taste. I like to cut treetops and don't fly much above 1000 ft AGL.

Waited five years for the price of 30''monitors to drop to a reasonable price in Europe. Finally it's happening and more and more people are upgrading to 2560x1600.Have gone from gaming on size 14''-17-19-20-22-24-27-30'' during the past 30 years.Ever step up has been significant for me but as I've said gaming @2560x1600 is a whole new ball game.Have fallen back in love with FSX and have found myself playing through my old games(Halflife,Rome TW,BF2 etc).If Flight does add ATC,upgraded weather, jets,AI etc in the coming months or years Im sure performance will take a hit so hopefully when Kelper arrives I should still be able to max out Flight at this res foryears to come.Have tried to use my pc on an LCD TV with HDMI but could never get used to it.
