HI, Does anyone have any tips for getting the best performance out of MS Flight?At the moment I'm running MS Flight with this setup:Resolution - 1024x768Vertical Sync - OnShadow Quality - LowSharpness - HighScenery Density - LowScenery Quality - MediumTexture Quality - MediumWeather Quality - MediumBut I want it to run well with a lot of the stuff at high and resolution at 1680x1050.Here's my PC Specs:Ram - 4Gb (DDR2)GPU - Nvidia Geforce 8200 (1Gb)CPU - AMD Athlon II X2 245 (2.9 Ghz Duel Core)OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit (With SP1)Hope you can help.

For some reason I got better smoothness with vSync turned on, but I am yet to test and confirm this :) Might have been a one off.

May be too soon to say, as to how the effect of the GPU is on Flight - obviously I think it has much more an effect on performance than FSX, as Flight seems to use a lot more of the GPU than FSX ever thought of using, FSX being so cpu hungry. I would say something like a GTX 460 would certainly help you, but no idea how much gain you might get - cards like the GTX 460 and up really benefit greatly from being balanced with a good cpu running around 4 ghz and up.I get very good performance with my graphics settings on high across the board, with my GTX 460, running at 1920x1080 - but I have my cpu running at 4.1 ghz as well.

From my experience it is very GPU intensive - comparable maybe to Take on helicopters. I have an i5-2500k that I run either on default or at a 4,5 Ghz OC. I have a relatively obsolete 285 GTX to go with that and my setup in flight is clearly GPU throttled. Tested flying from Ford Island towards Honolulu, everything on high and Fraps checking the FPS. Going from the default 3,7 GhZ to 4,5 Ghz did yield only 2 FPS and it never went above 21. In lesss scenery intensive areas I was doing over 70 with both CPU settings. I could really use a new videocard lol.Alex

Flight scales pretty well, but if you have the graphics set too high for your PC, you'll end up with some of the scenery becoming low-resolution, as you fly over it (since your system can not keep up). I got this tip from a member of the Flight Team, during the beta:If this happens, try reducing Shadows first (high CPU and GPU load, for little visual difference), and then Scenery Density (high CPU and GPU load, for just more objects in the distance).

Yes,depends how much you want to overclock it.You could gain between 6-12 fps with a decent overclock.
