Featured Replies

Ryan, are the led on the MCP supposed to be white ? I have orange as mentioned, but not on the MCP.Cheers
On the newer model, yes. That would be Collins option.

What I did notice immediately is that the whole cockpit area looked diffrenet somehow, even sharper, or had I just cleaned my glasses. whatever!
I was waiting to see if anyone else had noticed in a change in that.. It seemed different to me also, but I actually liked it better before.. I've been racking my brain trying to decide if something wasactually different, or if it was just my imagination. But to me, around a lot of the raised gauges, it seems much "busier" now, with more noticeablejaggies, and the usual distortion you often see in the creases, edges, etc in the VC panels seemsmore pronounced now.I had always noticed a bit of distortion when you move the view, which I consider normal in anyFSX VC panel. But it seems slightly worse now for some reason. I seemed to notice it pretty much right offthe bat. I tried all the different resolutions as far as the performance manager. I noticed that when I run the high res gauge files, I get an jaggedness to the verticallines on the ND, that I had never noticed before. If I use the low res gauge images, itseems the same as it used to be and not jagged. As far as the VC textures, both lowand high seemed about the same as far as the extra edge distortion I seem to be seeing. One thing.. I don't run a super high resolution, so maybe that is part of the problem. But now that I actually hear of someone else noticing a difference, it makes me wonder ifI really am seeing a difference in the overall VC look. Like I say, I seem to notice morejaggies around the raised outlines of the backup instruments, the backup altimeter inparticular, and the whole panel seems more jittery/shimmery around the edges so to speakas I pan across it. Like I say, if there really is a change, I liked it better the way it wasbefore. It seemed smoother overall, with less jaggyness.. I or think anyway.. :/I was almost to the point I was going to uninstall and revert back to SP1B as a test, just to see if there really is a difference in the way the VC display looks, as it's beenbugging the heck out of me wondering if it was always that way, or if it changed with thelast update.Anyway, Ryan, or whoever from PMDG that might read this.. Has there actually beensome change to the overall VC display, or am I just hallucinating?

Update.. I seemed to have been hallucinating.. :Hypnotized:I uninstalled and then went back to 1B, and I get the same effects with that version..So I guess I just noticed it more after I installed 1C, and thought it seemed worse than before.Like I say, at the lower appx 720p res I run, I always see some jaggies on VC panels.I consider that normal just to the nature of those beasts. But I did the test to find out if it was me, or if it really had changed.. I guess it was mejust noticing it more than I had before. So anyway, all seems fine after all. With 1B, I see all the same jaggies on edges as I do with 1C..Turned out to be a non issue.. And the rest of the plane seems fine from the trips I've done on1C so far..

The new sp1c colors of the radio displays are very realistic as the real aircraftIf you don't believe, please watch this video :

In regards to the video above. Is it me or do they have the older Honeywell MCP with white displays? Adam

I am extremely happy that PMDG changed it to what it is now after the SP1c. It always drove me nuts when I was flying on VATSIM, changing frequency and seeing it was not the way I've seen it on my last cockpit flight with the 738 (very old 738, the oldest one in the airlines fleet!). They also fixed that digits color on the Honeywell MCP which was white before the SP1c, now it's orange, with a little bit o' difference to the background of course! I've got some images of the old HW MCP on my hard drive here which I had taken some time during the flight. Thanks PMDG!By the way, I wonder the transponder was left white intentionally, or forgotten to set that in red too? I can't really remember what the transponder color looked like in that flight, so I can't really tell..

Three greens!

Thanks for posting back your results. The mind does play tricks... :biggrin:Have you tried the video settings suggestions in the Introduction documentation? If you have a nvidia card did you try these recommendations?http://forum.avsim.n...f-all-settings/

Here you are another video, a cockpit with the new Collins MCP and with the same radio display colors.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GgqeXv-kj8

Right, I actually meant the MCP readouts ( Alt, speed, heading). Sorry if I didn't make that clear. In the first video the aircraft had the Honeywell MCP with white digits. I was just under the impression that the honeywells came with orange digits? I'm sure however that that is one of infinite customer options Adam

I'm not using an Nvidia card.. But.. the video is actually fine. I just over noticed the edge distortion thatI always see to some degree, and thought it had become worse than I'd noticed before.I always see some distortion because I'm not running that high a resolution. So it was just my eyes being overly picky that day I guess.. Like I say, curiosity got the best of me,and I finally uninstalled and went back to 1b just to see.. But everything turned out to be exactly thesame as far as that distortion. So I put 1c back on..I think the radios can vary a tad.. I know they have ones that look like the ones in 1c, but I'vealso seen videos of ones in Southwest planes that looked like orange/yellow digits on a prettymuch dark background. Not a reddish/orange background..But.. that might have been a low light setting for the radio panel, or maybe just a bright daytime cockpithiding the red/orange background..In that particular case, the cabin pressure digits on the overhead had the same colors, with a darkunlit background and yellow/orange looking numbers. They seemed to match the radio panel. But it's hard to be sure about much with videos, unless they are really good, and preferably HD soyou can really see the detail. They may have shown a red/orange background at night with the lightsturned up a bit.

They look orange to me.The sunlight hitting the display windows makes it look whiter then it is.
