March 6, 201214 yr Wow! That's one buggy piece of software. Apparently just downloading it is enough to cause problems! Emi, you may not have intended on blaming the SP1c patch for your problems, but the subject of your post sure does suggest that. If it was your intent to blame SP1c, I suggest you're looking in the wrong place. March 7, 201214 yr Sounds like a hardware problem. set your bios to defaults if you are overclocking. download latest video drivers and directx
March 7, 201214 yr Yesterday I remembered, as a result of this post, that a little while ago i had the same problem on my old Pentium 4 pc, but then I did not related it to firefox. What happend to me was that after starting up I checked my mail (outlook) and after a few minutes or so my screen went blue with all sort of messages disposed in white text. I realize afterwards that ofcourse many mails contain links to certain websites and I also must have activated each time firefox. I was convinced my system was aboslute clear of anything so in my search (on my other 'sim' pc) I immediatly found out is must have been a hardware problem. The advise, how silly it may sound, de-install your memory banks, dust the slots of with a spray duster and put them back in. This is what I did and till today I have not encountered any problems anymore! So if we focus on a hardware problem could this be the solution for you? And also: at least once a year I clean the inside of my computers. Especially the 'sim' one with all the fans working on turbo-speed gets very dusty inside.Kind regards,Mark Carrick

March 7, 201214 yr @vonmar:where does it say in my text that I started up FX? When you push the powerbutton of the computer doesn't it then 'start-up'? As I also mentioned I have a separate desktop only for the sim."Why would that be a FireFox problem?"Indeed, as you can read it is not a firefox problem but a hardware problem (probably). The situation I described after starting up the computer is only ment to clearify how it went in my situation.Perhaps a recognisable situation for others, that's all.Mark Carrick
March 7, 201214 yr I am so surprised nobody has come up, what I think is the correct solution to this problem. The problem:Tried to download SP1c which did not download and the his sytem crashed with the BSOD. On restart the system only crashed when using Firefox. If he used another browser all works fine. The solution:Scan hard drive for errors with chkdsk /rThe system crashed during a download, did not shut down properly and caused hard disk errors. Probably the same sectors of hard disk that is used by firefox. If another browser is installed windows will install on good sectors automatically. System restore will not work on a corrupted hard drive, you need the fix the problem before restoring, but chkdsk r/ should recover the bad sectors anyway and no restore should be necassary .I may be wrong but I am sure all those years of sitting on the toilet reading PC Format must be worth something.
March 7, 201214 yr Author Thanks for the answers everyone. The solution from craig sounds promising, I'll try it tomorrow. Will report back if it works or not. Gents-There was a flash flood in the Asian sub continent that started about 20 minutes after the SP1c release...Clearly related...For those who know latin: Post hoc ergo propter hoc...Ok, so what can I do against that now? Greetings from the 737 flightdeck!
March 7, 201214 yr @markSorry for any confusion.Where does it say in my text that you started up FX?The remainder was just my general comments to reinforce your positive observation about FireFox not being a problem with FSX or PMGDNGX (because that is the forum we a posting in).
