possible new FS platform/engine 'Outerra'

Featured Replies

Hi There ChapsI came across this video from a few of the lads in my local FS Forum and boy oh boy is this platform shaping up to be a BEAUTY! As far as i know its in early Alpha at the moment with a demo released with minimal airfields and two aircraft. not to sure about how the flight physics/dynamics come into play with the engine....i assume some one would know more. But anyway could you imagine how INSANE this would look with a few PMDG aircraft thrown into the picture and HD weather! i think i would literally poop my self :(

Talking about Outerra, I did download and install it this morning! It has a lot of potential, but it is very GPU based. And since it is pre-alpha, it does contain lots of bugs, but the RTM will be amazing from what it looks like now.

Been talked about many times here...

This does looks stunning!! By the sound of things, It still has a long way to go in development. If its aimed at being a full "Flight Simulator" It will have great potential.

So far, this looks promising. But I'm afraid it will only cover a small part of the world, in that case it will be a completely useless sim for PMDG to switch to, just like FLIGHT and Aerofly. All we need is the scenery of the whole world, and the sim needs to support add-on developers also. At the moment, XPlane 10 has got the most potential, and with some good updates, it might definately evolve into a great FS platform in a year or two.

Well your concerns are entirely undue, as it covers the whole world.

Does it? Wow, I'm really happy now. :( However, it must also cover all airports in the world, not in super high detail, but at least detail that FSX has, with the correct runway and taxiway names etc.

It covers the entire world in the detail you see, does not have airports everywhere yet but it is awesome

Well if it will eventually cover all airports in the world in pretty high detail (does not have to be Aerosoft quality), then I would be extremely happy. Think ima hold off on XPlane 10 as soon as PMDG releases on or more of the planes for it. :)I hope that it's gonna support PMDG too though. :) Graphics look truly awesome! Especially sun and shadows inside the cockpit. That's one of the few things I miss in FSX. :(

Arjen Vandervelde

Well, the most promising graphic thing is that it uses OpenGL and not DirectX :smile:I really hope this project wil go straight forward!

It looks fantastic and truly a step in the right direction. If 3rd party devs can get to grips with it then we would be in for a real treat and so would the guys who are making the 'engine'

The team is very friendly and will be releasing an exporter to put objects in the game soon!
