Will Flight be whole world

Featured Replies

Well, my guess is that whole world is not MS's intention.I speculate that the plan is to create a whole lot of entertaining flying experiences similar to the Hawaii Adventure Pack.I think that the generally happy acceptance of what they have created so far will encourage them to do more of same. Will jetliners and inter-continental flying be introduced?Personally, I do not think that that is the intention but, who knows, if this GA sim proves to be really popular and DLC is lucrative then maybe it will be developed into an all-round sim.Long way to go though.

I don't think so no, just the interesting bits. And so far it seems to be mostly oriented towards GA and bush flying, which is JUST the way I like it :).

I doubt we will ever have the whole world, i used MS flightsimulator for many years now and the only places i fly is in Denmark and Germany and maybe 3-4 other countries.

Hey fellas, no, maybe not the whole world, but I bet your bottom dollar the whole plan is to offer addon scenery for other areas, very much as they have seen from independent devs with FSX. That is the very reason why they have not released an SDK. Why allow other devs to produce addons for their sim when they can continue to do that themselves ad infinitum. That's the name of the game these days in any form of sales and marketing strategy. No use producing a product that has longevity, far better to produce something with an onoing revenue stream. I bet in the next six months there will be, maybe something like, Flight California... and so on.

If they don't add some sort of large business jet/commercial airliner it will be really hard to get the 1 million passengers transported achievement.

For sure MS won't reproduce the whole world but it all depend on how much of it will be done.I consider a must central Europe, USA, Eastern Asia and parts of the South America.Sorry Aussies :P

Well I too doubt that they will cover the entire globe, but who knows what Flight may evolve into eventually. But seriously think about it, for us FSX users we have the whole world already. I wonder what the average area covered, as a percent to the whole world, would be across all the FSX users? I am betting it would be a very small percentage. But with users scattered throughout the whole world, many would be flying in areas I would not even think about - and I am sure I fly in areas some others would not even think about.I guess I too think it will be the more interesting and perhaps historical areas that they can build themes around, time will tell. You know though, when it was announced that Flight would be released with only Hawaii in the beginning, I thought I am not even going to bother - why should I? I never bothered with Hawaii in FSX, and being limited to only Hawaii? Man though, I have had about 18 hours of some serious fun so far with Flight! What a surprise this has turned out for me.

I somehow agree but you have been flowing in Hawaii 18 hours because that is the only available country. If you had in Flight your favorite country I think you would have never flown in Hawaii, even if I have to say that Hawaii flights are not so bad but I would test Alaska because Hawaii is too small for me. Anyway Alaska needs a faster plane because with something like a Maule it would take 10 hours to cross it.

Not quite, my point was I am not getting bored in the least with just Hawaii, or I would never have put that many hours into it - it would have been much less. And with the challenges/missions I have still available to me, which I have found quite enjoyable, I will undoubtedly be putting several more in ...

At one point, over on fs.com, someone released a spreadsheet that was supposed to include all of the default FSX airfields (although I quickly found that quite a large number were missing.) As I investigated it, and marked off where I had been to, I learned that I'd only ever visited some 1% of the available places, and I fly FSX like nobody's business.I don't think there's much reason to have huge expanses of the world with every available place to land.

I am pretty sure, that world coverage deppends on how much money they get from selling dlc... Personally i hope for whole world and such extensions that make old ms fs obsolete.

I'd like them to eventually release the whole world. I don't care if it spans over a few years to release content packs. It's fine in little bits, since I too probably wouldn't fly around Hawaii much if my own area was available. (Canada, especially Atlantic Canada) But I've actually learned a lot of interesting things about Hawaii. I look forward to what MS has in store for us.A little side note... The Alaska pack just might give me the opportunity to fly a little bit into Northern Canada! ^_^

Never a truer statement spoken, as long as those that are released are ones I'm interested in. :) Which is, I suppose, the problem. Where I fly and where you fly might not be the same. That's FSX "whole world" advantage. Or, if I see a news story and am interested in what that part of the world looks like--topography, etc--I can fire up FSX and fly over it to check it out. That's provided me with some interesting insights that I might not have had otherwise. Flight might never offer me that.Rich

zoom out on the top view and you can make out the US west coast and other bits of the world that as far as i can tell its all low res like whe you fly over the other islands with no scenery . when ever we get alaska we will be able to findout just by flying out of the covered terrain. why make the entire world if you are not ever going to cover it . lets just wait and see .
