woohoo / I love the interface where you can install on the active demo and select where in the world you want scenery so you don't have to do the whole planet over 8 hours time! Nice feature!...now me thinks a purchase of the 787 dreamliner is needed to start exploring

Keep in mind the 787 Dreamliner for X-P is a "lite" product. The state of the art regarding complex jets in X-P is the CRJ-200 by jrollon.Marco

+1http://www.x-aviation.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=68The 787 is good in it's own merit, however, if you're seeking airliner systems the CRJ is more for you. The 787 will more or less be the systems of a default X-Plane aircraft.

Isn't this a conflict of interest ?

Read the OP's other posts first.Honesty more than anything...As much as I would love to say there were more advanced and systems simulated airliners available there are not. There's really not much more to it.That said, you should also check out EADT's x737 as well, Peter! To Peter: since fs_av (seems funnily similar to the common stirrer known as m_av) wants to attempt to stir the pot, a full disclosure to you is that I run X-Aviation.com. That said, I 100% stand behind the products and am positive you'd enjoy them. If you experience any issues at all I would be more than happy to personally assist you, including anything with regards to getting used to X-Plane 10 in general! :)

When you, CameronB, offer an opinion (technical or otherwise) on a product, that's one thing. But when you offer an opinion on these free forums that promotes your product over another in addition to you providing a link to your website, that, IMHO, is a conflict of interest.Again, IMHO, if you want to compare products that you have no direct or indirect commercial interest in, is acceptable; so is putting that comparison in a paid advertisement if it's a product you sell. But using these free forums for your own commercial benefit is, to me, a conflict of interest.Admitting that you run a commercial enterprise and are pushing a product you sell over another you don't sell or whether you stand behind your products is hardly adequate; and, as I have said above, is a conflict of interest in my book.

I did not ask for your honest opinion nor did I seek your approval. Once a troll always a troll, m_av.

It seems "Commercial Users" can, if they have prior approval... AVSIM's Terms of Service (ToS)

Commercial users are NOT allowed to advertise within the AVSIM forums or elsewhere without the prior approval of AVSIM Staff. Commercial users are allowed to post information regarding upcoming sales, bargains, etc., but ONLY in the classified ads system of the forums.
So I guess the question is, does he or doesn't he? Cameron, I really don't care myself, just making others aware. Someone involved with Avsim will have to clarify, to satisfy those concerned.Glen

I'm afraid I have to side with the troll in this case. I find it questionable when shop owners post links to their product pages in this forum, given the fact that the CRJ is also sold in other places.Cameron, please have the courtesy to at least include x-aviation in your signature, so people know who they're talking with.

you lot have to be joking. ?????

In case you didn't know, this isn't your website, not even a topic you started. Correct me if I am wrong, but you are as much a guest here as I am. The only difference is that you are using this website for your personal gain.My opinion, expressed on a website, which, may I remind you again, does not belong to you, is expressed for everyone to see, not just you.

I'm scratching my head as well. Cameron wasn't even the one who made the initial recommendation.

He could have spared that link to his shop's product page. That's all I was trying to say.Just think what would happen if other shop owners did the same.

Tom

As evident as it may be the post was in no way for personal gain. I could have linked him to JRollon's site and it would have led to the exact same spot. You can read into it as much as you like, but this is as far as I'll respond back about it. To be clear, I would not have come in and made any comment had someone prior to me not posted about the product (in two separate places to the same person, mind you).I was part of the development of the CRJ, so whether it's bought at XA or any other distribution channel makes no difference to me. I am more personable when it comes to support and the difference would be that if someone who purchases outside of our original distribution channel, we do not offer the same level of personable support...your original point of purchase would be responsible for doing so, or you may resort to the forums.I have no problem recommending others' work, however, I do want people to get a great impression of X-Plane and what it can do. I do not feel the 787 lives up to this and I have no problem saying so. It's not an airliner simulation and I believe the "Licensed by Boeing" title on it can mislead people. I've given alternatives which I believe will make the initial "splash" fun for Peter and do not take back any of this.Have fun, Peter, and welcome to X-Plane! :(

OK, point taken. We be cool! :(
