March 19, 201214 yr I don't think Aerofly will get hammered, because they are a small company who did an amazing job with their first sim (I'm guessing it's their first?) I think Flight is getting hammered because many expect more out of MS. I'm one of those weird ones who feels that MS is ten years behind when it comes to graphics, and I guess I (and others) expected more from MS. I know, flame away at me, I know I'm in the minority...just voicing my opinion. : )I love all sims, for different reasons. There's no reason not to enjoy them all!Actually Ikarus have built RC flight sims for years. Aerofly FS is just their first attempt at modeling 'real' planes rather than RC models (hence the FS, which stands for Full Scale). From what I've read in some reviews that legacy is still rather noticeable in the flight dynamics, but I haven't tried it myself. John-Alan Pascoe
March 19, 201214 yr Commercial Member https://news.microso...-to-alaska.aspx"We're excited to announce some upcoming DLC: journey with us to Alaska, with over 1.5 million square kilometers (~600,000 square miles) of captivating scenery, new aircraft and additional missions! Check out the screenshots below for an advance look."So entire Alaska. Ok, quite a surprise I must admit, I thought that they would only make much smaller areas. Would be interesting to see if all that is in as good quality and accuracy as Hawaii area.
March 19, 201214 yr I'd get it too if I could figure out how to do so. Their shop link from the program info page takes you to a shop where they sell an RC flying sim, but there is no listing for the AeroFlyFS game, so I cannot buy even though I would like to LOLAlYou can buy AeroflyFS here (click "flight simulators" under "categories" on the left ,then "aeroflyfs" !) : http://www.aeroflyfs...ernational.htmlGuy
March 19, 201214 yr Is its size already announced somewhere? I mean, what if they only make part of Alaska?Yes, we know how big an area it will cover (~600,000 square miles), which is why I wrote in my previous post that it was "roughly 37 times larger than Switzerland" (15,940 sq.miles). It will be out sometime this "Spring," which is a 3 month window (Spring begins March 20th and ends June 20th). And we don't know what aircraft will be released with it, how much it will cost us, or if you will be able to actually fly from Hawaii to Alaska.EDITED: Goodness, I just noticed that I received the Flight/Mighty Pineapple award! ~ Arwen ~ Home Airfield: KHIE

March 20, 201214 yr I have both AFS and Flight from day one. I hoped AFS would be something like FU1 which i enjoyed a LOT because of its aerobatics capabillities ( a virtual instructor would show you how a particular aerobatic manoeuvre should be executed, then he'd let you have a go while telling you what you're doing wrong on the fly .... MSFlight could've shined here too but it doesn't.... ) While AFS has a Pitts and Extra it'll let you struggle along on your own doing aerobatics... Worse still, you feel like passenger getting a few minutes of sticktime... Same with the F-18 although the feeling of high speed flying as you thunder thru and over the magnificent looking valleys and mountains is something i have never experienced before in any sim. I won't say that this is already worth the price you have to pay for AFS but it does come close...AFS still feels like a RC sim only this time you can sit inside your RC model if you like but you're still controlling it via your transmitter...AFS appealed to me only for a couple hours. Certainly after MSFlight was released i never loaded it up again, mostly because i DO like a challenge, mission, or a job.Talking about it i just might fire AFS up again and have another blast thru those Swiss valleys. It IS quite thrilling and amazing ! B) My 2cents.cheers,jan Jan
