March 19, 201214 yr Flight has pulled me away (at least for the time being) from "Rise of Flight". But, that said, I've been continuing to fly FSX at least as much as Flight. When (not if) TrackIR support arrives in Flight, I foresee that changing...
March 19, 201214 yr Hi Folks 1. When you decide to get a job at the airport, you first fly with an instructor / experienced pilot (virtual character in game ofc)and do a bunch of tasks he lays ahead of you (basic stuff + unplanned circumstances, sudden changes of weather, aircraft systems failure, etc). After finishing the "test", instructor determines which level of experience you possess and therefore allows you to get jobs that fit your skill.2. Satisfaction percentage should play a significant role.If you have less than 80% for example, that particular airport will trust you only with light cargo flights and such.In order to get charter passengers jobs at that airport again, you would have to improve your satisfaction percentageby flying charter flights for other airports / airline companies (which would make a great addition, real or fictional).4. Another great addition (IMO) would be some high profile flights. To clarify that: only pilots with flawless records and highest level of skill would be granted access to those jobs.Say you need to fly a political figure or a celebrity to some specific spots on the island. Those missions could be further spiced up with special requests by your VIP passengers given without a warning or a plan and during a flight.Eevun -Great set of ideas. To clarify -All the following are just my opinions.I've no idea what MS will actually deliver/implement. :biggrin:All the above are supportable by the currently implemented mechanism.i.e. All Activities types & Jobs are conditionally lockable/unlockable.I'd hope/expect most of those aspectsto be addressed by future DLC,both for future areas, and any supplementary Hawaii addons.Idea #2 -When demoted to flying cargoa return to passenger duties would depend onsomething like total cargo weight successfully carried since the "incident".Idea #4 is really an extension of Idea #2e.g.Maybe VIP flights require a rating of 99% Passenger Satisfaction,(and increasing proportionally with greater total passengers carried).I doubt anyone would maintain 100%.particularly once DLC aircraft for 10 or more passengers become available.Reinstatement to passenger dutiesafter a single event of making 100 pax sick, might take some time. 3. You would earn virtual currency which would let you purchase various stuff. If nothing else, you could pay to have your plane painted in a pattern of your choice(and you would be able to create paint schemes yourself, giving your aircraft a unique look which would be uploaded so that other people would see it when playing multiplayer).Virtual currency is one aspect I'd like to have seen implemented.Still hoping.Whilst I'd hope/expect to see additional unlockable livery packs,e.g. For Maule, P-51, and future DLC aircraft.I think user-created liveries would likely be a problem,in terms of both maintaining quality control, and more importantly making it available to everyone, (for online MP).5. XP should be made some use of.Perhaps it allows you to access jobs that need to be done under severe weather conditions(it would basically take away user defined weather during jobs and it would be allowed only during free flight)or maybe prevent pilots with low XP level to be hired at major airports....stuff like that so that we have a goal to earn XP.XP are too easily acquired by other methodswithout any need for the user having the nescessary task-related skillset. The current conditional locking/unlocking mechanism is extremely flexible.e.g. Look at the serial progression for unlocking of Landing Challenges. Those unlocks needn't be serial. They could be unlocks for -- One to many, (A1 unlocks B1, B2, B3, etc.).- AND (A1 AND A2 unlocks B4)- OR (B1 OR B2 unlocks C1, B3 OR B4 unlocks C2).or any logic structure. There's also scope for weather related unlocks.Similarly there could be conditional re-lockinge.g.based on your visible Pilot-Profileor some other recorded parameters. There could even be unlocksfor future GUI aspects, or new activity-types.e.g.When you first played FLIGHTyou were entirely locked out of the GUIuntil you'd completed those 2 intro missions.I quite like the idea, but I don't think MS or most other people would go for it.'Congratulations. You have earned the right to buy more DLC's!Get your wallet out!' :PMost people have already performed a conditional taskjust to unlock the Stearman. :biggrin:Though agree its unlikely for purchased aircraft, but it is possible within the framework.HTHATBPaul Edited March 19, 201214 yr by basys ODG Preview
March 20, 201214 yr Paul (BASys) has come up with a great challenge, very difficult, will drive you crazy. I quote him:Challenge - Land on the runway.Duration - 60 seconds.Aircraft - ANYAirport - ANYWeather - ANYSounds simple ?Do it dead-stick, (engine-off).Basic method -- In the HANGAR -- - Select your aircraft.- - Select Fuel - Set to ZERO- On the MAP - Click any airport.- On the AIRPORT -- - Runways list, click - START IN THE AIR- - Click FLY- Flight loads the scenario, (positioning you approx 1000-2000 above the ARP).- Immediately press 'B' to kill the engine.- Pull the stick back, maintain attitude till the prop stops. (Stearman - Ignore this step)- Land without crashing.Suggestions -Start simply -- Icon A5- Hilo Intnl (PHTO)- Clear SkiesWork your way -- Through all the airstrips.- Repeat using a different aircraft.- Repeat in worsening weather.Warnings -- Stearman is a brick. (Does the FDE have a 10:1 glide ratio ?)- Bushstrips require familiarisation.- Becomes addictive.- Crashtastic/Careless/Magnetic/Bleeding Edge can be rapidly acquired.Have Fun !Let us know how you get on. ;-)You will quickly understand why pilots are taught to never turn back to the airport when the engine fails!Best regards.Luis Hot, humid Caribbean paradise!
March 20, 201214 yr Very good practice Luis - but it takes me less than 60 sec to hit something other than the runway 9-) Jon ------- Microsoft Flight Sim MVP Airport Design Editor FSDeveloper.com
