Heck even at busy International airports there are hardly any planes there with Traffic set to max on all sliders. I realize addon payware fixes these.But my topic is mainly concerned about small town unknown airports. In real life there are usually at least 3 or so smaller prop planes sitting parked in a field or by a shed. Most airports I visit in FSX are totally empty, even with max Traffic set.Is there a cfg file or something that can help fix this?Is there an addon that can fix this ghost town-ness everywhere.

There is no cfg file that could change anything to solve your problem.Depending on which area is on your mind, the chances that any free or pay-ware product will populate small airports of your interest are also rather slim.The best solution for you is to do it yourself. If you are at least averagely computer literate and you have a couple of hours to spend, voila soon you'll be making your own traffic.

I thought Ultimate Traffic type programs did this sort of thing, guess I need to read up on what it does then.So the planes need to be put statically into the airport, is that it? What program do I use for this?

I do not know the list of airports that Ultimate Traffic is covering, so it can happen you'd be completely satisfied or completely disappointed with it's results.The aircraft we refer to as "traffic" are not static, they are exactly what the word "traffic" implies - they do their daily, weekly or monthly routine of flights.To make your own traffic all you need is Microsoft's SDK (software developer's kit) that is included in some versions of FS X - check your first DVD for folder SDK and if you have it, then read this:http://www.fsdeveloper.com/wiki/index.php?title=SDK_Installation_%28FSX%29once you have your SDK properly installed reading Traffic toolbox SDK is a must, when you familiarize yourself with what is covered there, all you need to produce your own traffic is a decent program to write your flight plans and createyour traffic bgl file or files. You might try my static aircraft library. It has 62 GA planes that can be placed with something like ADE or Instant Scenery. The updated FSX version is very easy on frame rates.

Ah, very cool. Thanks for info.So wanting to learn more... what does GA stand for?Can I place tall grass in airport areas too with ADE?I have some other how traffic works questions too but I'll put those in a different thread I guess.

GA = general aviationTall grass would require finding or making a model to place. Then ADE or Instant Scenery could place it.

I'd love to "ground" all my AI traffic. They are just adorable when I arrived at an airport and see them, but usually cause me problems when they decide to fly.

I vote for Instant Scenery 2 (about $25) and the high FSX performance GA static aircraft libraries from kjb mentioned above. You can add the aircraft while running FSX - place and orient them quickly. Using the freeware MCX (or SAMM), you can quickly add some more libraries from various sources including your own simobjects since if they have animations, MCX/SAMM can freeze them with the gear down. It does take a little learning, but after that, you can do an airport in maybe a half hour.

Uh, what's wrong with being "old"?You will find a sub-forum for Freeware by Markus Brunner here at Avsim. There is a lot in there for the FSX version of GA Traffic. While most of the GA AI planes are for FS9, they are usable in FSX. If you're not careful, you could have a lot of little planes flying around your GA airports. Almost like a shopping mall on Christmas Eve...

Ultimate Traffic X fixes this problem, but you need to spend some time finding repaints for lesser known airlines. It also has a general aviation section where you can add some models and repaints and every airport in the world will be populated. I really like it. Although the past few weeks I've spent more time searching out repaints not in the package.

Reading up sounds like Ideal Flight 10 also adds aircraft.Does anyone know if UT2 or IF10 will do what I'm looking for?
