I dithered on including that, but did not want to confuse anyone not familiar with Freespace and etc. :(A further note about the game.This full release of Wing Commander Saga contains two campaigns. The first is an upgraded version of the original Wing Commander Saga Demo “Prologue” campaign. It has been upgraded with an expanded story, more characters in-game, Wing Commander style autopilot sequences (rather than the long, time accelerated autopilot sequences used in the original prologue) and updated graphics and game play. This five mission campaign set aboard the TCS Wellington teaches the player how to play Wing Commander Saga and sets the stage for the main campaign. You can select the prologue by going to the campaign room and highlighting the “Prologue” campaign. Even if you played the original prologue, it is highly recommend to play the updated prologue to bring new players and others up to speed with all the changes that have happened since the original release.From there, you can go to the campaign room and select “The Darkest Dawn” campaign. This campaign will assume that you have learned everything that the “Prologue” campaign is designed to introduce you to. This is the all new, 50 mission campaign based on the TCS Hermes.

I used to love Wing Commander....And Space Flight Simulation is still a form of Flight Simulation in my books and this one was a lot of fun.So was Star Wars Tie Fighter back in the day, nothing more fun then dog-fighting those rebel scum...LOLCheers

Not really completely disappeared. Freespace and Freespace2 were released at about that time as well, but when the company went under, it released the source code of those games to the community. That community has been working away like busy little beavers during the intervening time, nearly completely modernizing and rewriting the code to the game, bringing it up to modern standards, and in the meantime, many outstanding fan made campaigns have been released.The Wing Commander Saga project is just one of the latest and most ambitious.Another well known and admired campaign is Blue Planet of which I include an example video to give you an idea of how involved and well thought out it all is. This is one of the hardest missions, as you must manage and assign priority targets to your wing-men very smartly to have even a small chance of surviving. There are a ton of simultaneous situations occurring, and its a long and exhausting mission. This guy kinda cheated on easy mode, since normally, sidling up to capital ships like he is doing would land you in a world of anti-fighter hurt.By the way, the Wing Commander Saga servers were hammered in the first 24 hours with over 50,000 downloads!!! Good thing other servers came in to rescue them!

Freespace2 new nebula and advanced graphics test (slightly glitched pulsar shortwaves expanding like a slideshow) Track IR mod test. (Also no lod so high popup on test cap-ships, but it shows where the community is heading in a few months)

I've always been a closet fan of space sims. I especially enjoyed the epic releases like Freespace^, Freelancer (1, and 2 to a lesser extent), and X1/2/3. How's this release? Quality? I want the input of some fellow simmers because Gamespot forums and Youtube comments are useless garbage!
