March 24, 201214 yr My credit card has been whispering seductively the past few days and I am trying to decide which of two products to buy. One is the Aerosoft/Digital Aviation Piper Cheyenne X. Can anyone tell me:a. Does it have good FPS? (My system specs are below but basically it's a "mid range" system for FS9)b. Does it recognize standard GoFlight module inputs? (as with iFly 737, Aeroworx B200, DF727)Pretty much everything else is answered in the AVSIM Gold Star review but those are two issues that are deal breakers for me these days.CheersIan

March 24, 201214 yr Ian,Forgive my stealing your topic, but I just wanted to say I love the way you put it here: My credit card has been whispering seductively the past few days I thought it's ghosts living in my pocket, but now I know what it is!I am fighting to resist the whispers as a few cool FS9 addons are about to be released soon, so I'd better wait a bit more.

I am always amazed at how much you know about products and developments in the FS world before anyone else does - so maybe you have some help from the spirit world! :(I Runs Well On Mine My specs are at the bottom... as far as i know i says it has full goflight support you can check this link from Aerosoft http://en.shop.aeros...anguage=english Thanks Jordan. I thought I had read the product information thoroughly but the answer was sitting there and I missed it. It does say "Full GoFlight module support." And given the specs of your system, it seems pretty likely that I won't have any issues running it.CheersIan
March 25, 201214 yr Hi IanI can't tell you about the Goflight modules, but the rest of the Cheyenne is wonderful. The turbine modelling is as good as you can get on FS9, and each variant has a slightly different cockpit, including pressuisation systems. The only thing that is a bit iffy is the Trimble GPS, but there is a switch in the Cheyenne's config file to enable you to use the RXP units (430 is a straight swap, 530 needs a bit of shuffling around). The VC and 2D panels are sublime. This one is a keeper.Cheers, SLuggy I do not have a signature. Why are you reading this?

I can't afford to buy both of them and as they are both so highly regarded, it's a tough call. If it wasn't for that damned "real world" and the need to buy food, pay the mortgate and all those other irrelevant things, this would be a no-brainer. I'd buy them both...
March 25, 201214 yr Morn'n Folks,I can't help you with the GoFlight modules - but - the Cheyenne is one of my absolute favorite planes that has withstood the test of time... One note - I did get tired of messing with the Trimble - so I replaced it with the Reality XP GNS530... Everything works 100% except the little NAV/GPS Switch above the AI - it just doesn't indicate the correct state... Not a huge problem - as the switch on the GNS works fine... I've tried to find a replacement for the problem gauge that works - but - no joy yet...If you use FSBuild - I'm actually working on a profile for the Cheyenne now...One other advantage is you get a plane that works in both FS9 and FSX for a single price... I hate buying the same plane twice...Hi Sluggy - is there a special procedure you used for the swap - included with the Cheyenne ? I just did a standard gauge swap with FS Panel Studio - no special procedures... I deleted one of the radios to make more room since the GNS has the radio built in...Good luck...Regards,Scott
March 26, 201214 yr Author Simple Ian ... do you want a jet or a turboprop?Case closed! :(LOL - I wish it was that simple. I have plenty of jets and turboprops. My "want" is probably more along the lines of "I want a new addon fix!" :( And I have a strong "don't want" - which is to buy something that a few hours later I will wish I hadn't. I've had that experience with two out of the three addon aircraft I have bought over the past six months or so and don't want to add another to that list. What intrigued me about these two products is that they were both awarded AVSIM Gold Stars. Both are very different to what I currently fly and would introduce a new challenge. If I was choosing something to fill a "gap" in my hangar, the Citation X would win hands down as I do not have any Bizjets. And if I was being sensible I'd slap myself across the top of my head and say "get a grip!" I have more addon planes than I really know what to do with anyway!Cheers mateIanMorn'n Folks,I can't help you with the GoFlight modules - but - the Cheyenne is one of my absolute favorite planes that has withstood the test of time... That might help me make up my mind as I don't have the RXP GNS and although I've looked at it several times, it's pretty expensive. (I do have several other RXP products and love them all)...
March 26, 201214 yr My "want" is probably more along the lines of "I want a new addon fix!" I can relate to that. I've just invested in the Blackbox nee PSS Boeing 777. :(
March 26, 201214 yr Hi ScottIn the PA31.cfg I changed the 'UseTrimble' line to 0. This is present only in V4.00 (the final version). If you've got Vista or Win 7 the PA31.cfg file is located in ProgramData/Digital Aviation/PA31 Cheyenne, and can be a bugger to find if you don't know it's there! :LMAO:See this thread (disregarding the stated location of the PA31.cfg, I think that was for XP).http://www.digital-aviation.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=6369Cheers, SLuggy I do not have a signature. March 26, 201214 yr as I don't have the RXP GNS and although I've looked at it several times, it's pretty expensiveWorth every penny. I bought mine shortly after release, partnered it with the later 430 and Pro (so I can crossfil etc) and couldn't fly GA without them now. As to expense ... have you checked the buy price of a real one? Frankly best bargain for FS9 since you are getting 99.5% of the 'real deal.'Go on Ian ... start saving now ... you obviously know the quality of RXP gear. :( :( :(
March 26, 201214 yr Hi SLuggy, Man - you've got to be kidding me - you don't know how many hours I've spent trying to get that little gauge to work... THANKS for the tip - even though it was a small issue - it bugged me... Can't wait to test it out... :( have you checked the buy price of a real one? Frankly best bargain for FS9 since you are getting 99.5% of the 'real deal.'They are getting cheaper since Garmin stopped making them..I hope Reality XP is working on the new models...:wink:Regards,Scott
March 26, 201214 yr No worries, glad to help. Might take the olde girl out for a spin tomorrow, it's been a while. Can't believe I bought the Cheyenne way back in 2006, one of my first addons. One look at the panel and I was sold, still one of the most beautiful 'dashboards' I've ever seen in FS. :Hug:Cheers, SLuggy I do not have a signature. Why are you reading this?
March 26, 201214 yr Author Well, I went and bought the Cheyenne and so far I've enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I'm having some serious graphics problems with FS right now so I won't be doing much flying until I figure out a fix... But it is definitely "different" - a fascinating mixture of 1970's avionics with a pretty spectacular performance for a light twin. But I have to confess that the Citation X keeps whispering my name, so I may have to pawn something soon so I can buy it as well. Maybe I could pull my daughter out of college for a semester???? Sell my wife's car???? Or just keep whining on here until the Eaglesoft folks feel sorry for me and give the darn thing to me to shut me up????? :Kiss:Thanks guys - great inputIan
