March 27, 201214 yr just over 85nmiles under 130FT from the water got me 26xxx k XP points .. gets darker when you get away from the shore line. Image removed as image is no longer available.
March 27, 201214 yr gets darker when...... your destination is one of those tiny fields nested within a forest. I stopped doing those at night, almost impossible to get down during day time, let alone in darkness, especially if you set clouds and have little moon light. I admit that I then do turn on landing lights for the last few seconds before touchdown but I recently flew a mission to that strip which is also featured in the Stearman challenge #6... geeze, impossible for me with winds. and then in the maule, not even close to better. but these clandestine night missions indeed give you a massive amount of XP Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
March 27, 201214 yr Very nice! If its points you're after, I've found the best bang for the buck is Gold Rush runs where you can score 6,000 points every 3 minutes, or 30,000 points in 15 minutes. Of course Gold Rush doesn't have that "Clandestine" element. Jason BocheDelta Virtual Airlines Assistant Chief Pilot, B767-300
March 27, 201214 yr Jasonboche, if I'm not mistaken you only get the difference between the points you scored and the highest you scored on the gold rush and similar events.Even though you scored 3K you may be earning 0.
March 27, 201214 yr 29247 XP is my best Clandestine score. Certainly speeds up the race through Levels. - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
March 27, 201214 yr Clandestine is by far my favorite job type. Night time, no lights, staying low, running from the po! This one job type alone is worth buying the Maule for me.The XP is nice, but unless they add a reason for XP, it is kind of pointless. Aaron
March 27, 201214 yr Hmm,I have as of yet to try one , this thread has certainly perked my interest - going to have to try me one of those here pretty soon... Don B
March 27, 201214 yr Well I just tried my first. I was having fun, flying just above the treelines - the trip was around 56km, and I was down to only like 22km. The upcoming terrain had a light grade up. I could have swung way to my right to get around down near the ocean, but was concerned I might get spotted. So I went swept around to the right a little, but still above the trees with still an incline, though not as severe.Well I will be danged as I was going up that incline if the Maule didn't all of a sudden get too slow and before I knew it I was dropping to the ground. It was in a bit of a clearing, and the passenger said - well you sure know how to spice up a flight! It was rough ground and had to try to take back off going downhill - that didn't work I crashed and of course the mission ended - and no dang checkpoint to reload - augh!Next time I try it I will know to sweep all the way around... All points earned in each Gold Rush attempt add to your experience, regardless of previous Gold Rush attempts. I burned through a few levels this way. March 28, 201214 yr How do you get to the clandestine missions? I have the adventure pack and maule, but I can't find 'em. Everyone talks about them though. Sorry, I'm stupid ;)How do you get to the clandestine missions? I have the adventure pack and maule, but stupid me, I can't find 'em. Everyone talks about them though.Oops about the last post :P JP1018
March 28, 201214 yr The clandestine cargo mission appear at random on the job boards of airports without control towers, the magenta ones on the map. Check every airfield and you should find 2 or 3. Zoom in so you can see the smallest ones. If nothing appears, or you don't like the ones offered, change the date and try again.Hook Larry Hookins Oh! March 28, 201214 yr Next time I try it I will know to sweep all the way around...yep don, learned that as well. often the planes are just too heavy even with very little fuel. direct is not usually the best way, my first route is now usually straight towards the sea, then over water all the way towards the destination and just there on a direct path to the field/airport. takes a little longer but is easier to fly especially during the night as there are no tree tops around over the ocean, just waves to skim :-) Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"

March 28, 201214 yr I wonder if the experience points system will be a factor in delaying or preventing the introduction of jets. Last night I did a passenger transport trip to Honolulu. I don't remember where I started but I remeber the distance was about 84 NM. It took me about about 45 minutes from gate to gate and I earned about 8,000 XP (no skip, night, happy passengers). I did the trip on the Maule, which when I'm at cruising altitude I can usually trim it to get about 150 kts cruising speed. If MS were to introduce the Bombardier Challenger 601, that plane has a cruising speed of 459 knots (according to Wiki), capacity for 19 passengers and a max take off weight of 19,550 kg (43,100 lb). Going three times faster I could've done the same run in about 15 minutes. I'm going to assume I would earn the same XP as the XP should be baaed on how far you are travelling and what you're carrying (people vs cargo). If players in general can earn that much XP in that short of time everyone would reach max level in a week, which would kind of make the XP system kind of pointless. Never mind clandestine missions would be a breeze since you can outrun the cops unless they started flying F-16s. Therefore it makes me wonder if jets will ever be introduced at all. Just a thought.
