March 31, 201214 yr Commercial Member If you change around some of the default key assignments like I did , backup that file first if You ever decide to let FSX rebuild your cfg file. Then just overwrite the new one. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager
April 1, 201214 yr Commercial Member ^ Good advice. Some people like to delete their FSX.cfg file to see if it fixes some problems. When FSX restarts it will create a new fsx.cfg file but it will also create a new standard.xml file and overwrite any custom key assignments you may have made. So make a copy of standard.xml. www.antsairplanes.com
April 1, 201214 yr This file is pointed to in the fsx.cfg as :-[CONTROLS]Controls_Current=StandardControls_Default=StandardThe header in the Standard.xml file is:-<SimBase.Document Type="Controls" version="1,0" id="Standard"> <Descr>Controls Mapping File</Descr> <Filename>Standard.XML</Filename>You can rename the entries in the fsx.cfg to point to any named xml file you want, with all the control/button/keypress you have or want to configure and save. All that you have to change is the word "Standard" in each position within the two files (bolded) - and then rename the standard .xml to the new name, and it will be recognized by FSX. A far better method of saving the key assignments is by using the profile facility of FSUIPC, whereby you can save all key-presses, switches, axis controls and their respective calibrations. It's a magnificent addon. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
April 2, 201214 yr I would recommend placing a copy of your mod controls file in the main fsx folder was well. AFAIK that is where fsx.cfg will look for the "default".scott s..
